Alfa Romeo adds the 2017 Giulia Quadrifoglio to its line-up at 2015 LA Auto Show

LOS ANGELES — The 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio holds the title for the fastest lap time at Nürburgring by a four-door production sedan at 7 minutes and 39 seconds. Now, it is coming to the U.S. market. The announcement was made at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The Giulia Quadrifoglio comes equipped with a 2.9-liter, Ferrari V6 bi-turbo engine producing 505 horsepower. It has a top speed of 191 mph and it goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds.

“This is the first of eight new Alfa Romeo’s to come to North America,” said Jiyan Cadiz with Alfa Romeo product communications. “It started with the 4C to the market, so that was the first appetizer for Alfa Romeo here in the U.S. Now, we’re coming back with something substantial. We want to make sure that the driver is connected to the vehicle and that the emotion, the feel and the passion exists. Something that is lacking with other premium cars today.”

This new model features a laundry list of safety technologies such as chassis domain control, an integrated braking system, torque vectoring, active aero front splitter and Alfa’s DNA pro drive mode selector. In addition, it offers full-speed forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with full stop and a lane departure warning.

“It’s the only Italian-styled design car in the premium sedan segment,” Cadiz explained. “It goes head-to-head with some of the best German sedans. We are bringing the best of technology. We are very excited to bring it to the market. It brings excitement to the midsize segment.”

The Giulia Quadrifoglio comes with a choice of seven exterior colors: Rosso Alfa (Red), Vulcano Black Metallic, Silverstone Gray Metallic, Montecarlo Blue Metallic, Vesuvio Gray Metallic, Trofeo White Tri-Coat, and Rosso Competizione Tri-Coat (Red).

“I think the Alfa Romeo Giulia is going to be critical to building the brand further in the U.S.,” said Akshay Anand, a senior analyst at Kelley Blue Book. “They started off with the 4C. We know that’s not a big volume car. I think the Giulia is the first step in volume.”

Pricing starts at around $70,000 and goes up from there. Look for the 2017 Giulia Quadrifoglio to arrive in Alfa Romeo dealers in the summer of 2016. It will be assembled at the Cassino plant in Frosinone, Italy.
