DETROIT – The Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix is proud to once again partner with the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) as its official healthcare services provider when the event returns to Belle Isle Park, June 3-5, 2016.
Every year that the Grand Prix has been hosted in the Motor City since 2007, the DMC has served as the official provider of healthcare services for the event and the partnership continues to grow along with the popularity of the annual race. As part of the relationship, the DMC coordinates and operates all medical facilities and stations at the Grand Prix during race weekend – not only servicing all event attendees, but working closely with each of the racing series to coordinate care for the competitors as well.
“The Grand Prix has developed a trusted partnership with the DMC over the years and we appreciate all they do to provide first class medical services for our event,” said Bud Denker, Chairman of the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix
In the DMC, the Grand Prix knows it has a partner that has established itself as a leader in the medical community, and especially with its local sports teams and events. The DMC also serves as the official healthcare services provider for the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Pistons and the annual Detroit Free Pres Marathon.
“At DMC we take pride in our city and the communities we serve, and that translates into supporting Detroit’s biggest sports traditions like the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix,” said Joe Mullany, Chief Executive Officer, Detroit Medical Center. “DMC brings the same emergency medicine expertise to the race as we do in our hospitals. We’re proud of our partnership, excited for the race, and ready to go.”
Building on the relationship, Grand Prix drivers have also made appearances at DMC hospitals each year, visiting with patients and staff while bringing the event closer to them. This morning, Verizon IndyCar Series driver Charlie Kimball, who races with diabetes, visited the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Specialty Center and spent some time with pediatric patients with diabetes and participated in a unique art therapy session.
“It was awesome to spend some time with the patients at Children’s Hospital and, as drivers, we appreciate all the DMC does to support the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix,” said Kimball. “Hopefully we can see some of the patients on Belle Isle when the race returns the first weekend in June.”
