PHOENIX — Elio Motors (OTCQX:ELIO), which is slated to launch a three-wheel vehicle with a targeted $6,800 base price that will get up to 84 mpg, will display its P5 prototype between 8 a.m.-6 p.m., June 23-25 at Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions® at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn.
Barrett-Jackson is making its inaugural appearance in the Northeast and will feature a broad range of vintage, customs, supercars and late-model vehicles. Some early highlights include the one-of-one custom 1967 Ford Mustang known as “Obsidian,” a 1970 Plymouth HEMI Superbird, and a 1968 Shelby GT500 KR Convertible.
Elio Motors’ prototype three-wheeler features an eye-catching, aerodynamic design and unique two-person, front-to-back tandem seating, reminiscent of a small airplane cockpit. The futuristic design makes the vehicle a natural fit for Barrett-Jackson events.
“We are excited to join Barrett-Jackson in its first venture into the Northeast,” said Paul Elio, Chairman and CEO of Elio Motors. “Like the team at Barrett-Jackson, Elio Motors shares a passion for design and a desire to connect with automotive enthusiasts wherever and whenever we can. Bringing this event and our vehicle to fans in the Northeast is a win for everyone involved.”
If consumer demand is any indication that a vehicle will be a future classic, the Elio is well on its way. Nearly 55,000 people have made reservations to purchase an Elio.
Elio Motors, which will build the vehicle in Shreveport, La., has achieved several important milestones in 2016:
- Nearly $17 million was raised in a Regulation A+ stock sale.
- The company’s shares began trading on the OTCQX Best Market (OTCQX:ELIO), making Elio Motors the first and, so far, only company to raise money through Regulation A+ and have its shares go public.
- Elio Motors announced its innovative ePlus options ordering system at the New York International Auto Show.
- The company launched the Pilot Operations Center in Livonia, Mich., to begin assembly of its E-Series vehicles for testing and engineering purposes.
“This year has been one of significant leaps forward for our organization,” Elio said. “Our reservations continue to climb, signaling strong consumer interest, and our engineering team is finalizing our E-Series test vehicles, which is a critical step in our march toward production. As we get closer to our goal, it is important that we share our story with potential customers, and we look forward to meeting new people and creating new fans of the Elio Motors movement this weekend.”
