Take a bounty hunter, a gambler, an outlaw, a sharpshooter, an assassin, a warrior, and a tracker, you got yourself a gang of misfits that are about to do the impossible: take on an army as “The Magnificent Seven,” as the new trailer shows.
A remake of the classic 1960 Western, the movie reunites Oscar winner Denzel Washington with his “Training Day” director Antoine Fuqua and co-star Ethan Hawke, who received a Best Supporting Actor nod for his role in the 2001 film. Not only that, #Mag7 is Denzel’s latest collaboration with Antoine, who directed the actor in 2014’s “The Equalizer” (a remake of the spy/detective series that aired on CBS from 1985 to 1989), where Denzel protects the innocent and helps the helpless: serving justice with a gun against Russian mobsters and corrupt police officers.
Like Robert McCall, Denzel’s character in “Magnificent Seven” is a good-guy in black, a knight in shining armor who’s good – and fast – with a gun: leading Ethan, Chris Pratt, Vincent D’Onofrio, Byung-Hun Lee, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Martin Sensmeier on a mission of righteousness and revenge when a widow hires them to help protect her and her town from a ruthless industrialist (Peter Sarsgaard).
“The Magnificent Seven” is set to ride on September 23.
