Pure Michigan 400: What The Fans Are Saying About MIS

BROOKLYN, Mich. — Kyle Larson took the checkered flag at the 47th annual Pure Michigan 400. He beat Chase Elliott and Brad Keselowski to the finish line by 1.478 seconds at the 2-mile, oval-shaped track in the Irish Hills. It was first Sprint Cup series win after 99 attempts.

I spoke with race fans who watched the Pure Michigan 400 from atop the pit road suites. Here’s what they had to say:

“I like it because it’s very exciting. The people are very nice and it’s just fun to come here and have fun for the weekend. Everything we expected. I’ve been here about 15 or 16 times. My favorite driver is Greg Biffle.”

-Joe Parmer from Muskegon, Michigan

“It was actually awesome. A clean race by everybody. It’s always fun to see a first win. Kyle Larson raced really hard all season. It’s really fun to see his first win today. Some of the restarts were hard for some of them to get going. Overall, it was a good race.”

-Rachel Speir from Toledo, Ohio

“The adrenaline was nice. I felt like it was powerful and loud and that’s what I like. It was definitely worth going to. That’s for sure. I was rooting for the Shell guy. I would definitely come back again.”

-Riley Nickell from Portage, Michigan
