Come next St,. Patrick’s Day, viewers will get more than just the luck of the Irish. On Tuesday, Marvel and Netflix has announced that Marvel’s “Iron Fist” will premiere on March 17, 2017.
Completing the line-up of Marvel’s upcoming “Defenders”, the series stars Finn Jones (HBO’s “Game of Thrones”) as Daniel Rand, a billionaire who returns to New York after being declared dead for several years. Willing to bust through walls to reclaim what’s rightfully his, Rand uses the power of the Iron Fist to battle crime, corruption, and injustice as a kung-fu superhero.
Marvel’s “Iron Fist” also stars Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, who’s about to get a new student in her self-defense class; Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), the night nurse that treated the superhero wounds of Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), and Luke Cage (Mike Colter). In the comics, Colleen Wing is one-half of the crime-fighting female duo Daughters of the Dragon alongside Misty Knight, the detective with the bionic arm. The character of NYPD detective Mercedes ‘Misty’ Knight is being played by Simone Missick on Marvel’s “Luke Cage” opposite Mike Colter’s titular Power Man. And speaking of Power Man and Iron Fist, the two became a crime-fighting team themselves in the comics as Heroes for Hire: providing protection for people who can afford their services. In the meantime, though, Marvel’s “Luke Cage” is a solo hero-for-hire on Netflix right now.
But soon, Luke Cage won’t be flying solo, and the same will go for Jessica Jones, Daredevil and now Iron Fist. In 2017, this superhero quintet will be soon become Marvel’s “The Defenders”.
