Trailer Thursday: The consequences of ‘John Wick: Chapter Two’

You’re always that guy, John

He may not be on Santa’s nice list, but John Wick is back to do what he does best: being naughty as the boogeyman.

The newest trailer for “John Wick: Chapter Two” sees Wick “working” on another bloody mission of vengeance – and justice.  This time, “Wick goes off” to Rome to settle the account of a former associate, who decides to open a brand-new one – against John Wick, who will settle the bloody debt not only against that former associate, but against a crime boss (Common), and the world’s most elite assassins.

“Somebody, please get this man … a gun,” said Laurence Fishburne’s the Bowery King

Have gun, will John Wick travel back into the savage land of being a fast gun.

“Whoever comes, I’ll kill them.  I’ll kill them all,” Wick vows.

“John Wick: Chapter Two” is the sequel to the titular 2014 critical and box office hit with Reeves’ Wick on his first mission of vengeance – and justice – against the men who broke into his house, beat him up, steal his vintage Mustang, and killed the dog that his late wife Helen gave him as a present.  To illustrate, the character John Wick is up there with “24”‘s Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), “Taken”‘s Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson), “Person of Interest”‘s John Reese (Jim Caviezel), and Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) as “The Equalizer”.

Maybe John Wick will finally retire the life of an assassin and go into business as a different kind of hired gun: one whose mission is vengeance against the underworld of crime and corruption, a man who seeks redemption for his bloody past by seeking justice for those who can’t fight for themselves: righting their wrongs as an urban dark knight in shining armor.

“John Wick: Chapter Two” begins February 10, 2017.
