AmericaJR was LIVE at Cobo Center for the 2017 Automobili-D technology symposium. Waymo CEO John Krafcik was the keynote speaker on Sunday afternoon. He announced that 100 self-driving Chrysler Pacifica minivans will begin testing on roads in California and Arizona later this month. Krafcik also mentioned that Waymo is manufacturing all of its own hardware including sensors, radar and light detection systems known as LiDAR. He said that Waymo has brought the cost down for this technology by as much as 90 percent.
