Introducing the 2017 Ram 1500 Copper Sport

CHICAGO — FiatChrysler Automobiles introduced its the Ram 1500 Copper Sport and limited editions of its Heavy Duty Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 pickup trucks being called “Night Editions.” The unveilings took place on Thursday at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show.

Let’s begin with the Copper Sport. Only 3,000 units will be produced in this new radiant Copper Pearl color. It comes with a 9-speaker Alpine® premium audio system with subwoofer and 22-inch polished aluminum wheels (two-wheel drive).

“Chicago Auto Show is a great place to make truck news,” said Nick Cappa, spokesman for the Ram truck brand. “It’s the first time we’ve done 22-inch wheels on the Ram 1500 with a crew cab configuration. Before, it was only available on the regular cab truck. Other things we added are body color bumpers, a cool sport hood.”

Interior features include Copper-colored accent stitching throughout the cabin, Sport embroidery on the deluxe bucket seats, color-accent Ram’s head embroidery on the headrests and sport mesh on the seat inserts. Anodized Copper-painted spears and trim rings link with an all-black headliner and pillars to complete the interior pattern.

Pricing for the Ram 1500 Copper Sport starts at $45,630 and goes up from there. It will be available in U.S. dealerships at the end of February.

Introducing the 2017 Ram 2500 Night Edition

The custom features found on the Ram 1500 Night Edition is being expanded to the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 trucks as well. That includes a black grille surround, badges and wheels to add personality and style. Three engine choices are available: a 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8, 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 or 6.7-liter Cummins I-6.

“The whole black-out theme is very popular,” Cappa added. “People love customized trucks and this will look great in any dealer lot. Blacked-out grille, blacked-out wheels, badging with a big R-A-M across the back tailgate in like Arial font 547. The best thing about the 2500 is that it has a lean coil rear suspension system that is unmatched in the industry. It’s almost five and a half African elephants or 125 NFL players with their gear that the truck can tow.”

Ram 2500 and 3500 HD Night models are available in Bright Silver Metallic, Bright White, Brilliant Black Crystal, Delmonico Red Pearl and Granite Crystal Metallic.

Pricing starts at $45,520 and goes up from there. Production of the 2017 Ram HD Night models began in February. Look for these special edition trucks to arrive in dealer showrooms later this month.

Chicago Auto Show attendees also have the chance to ride a Ram 1500, 2500 or 3500 truck at the Ram Truck Territory. The 30,000-square-foot interactive ride experience demonstrates the power and capabilities of the Ram truck line-up.

“It’s like a playground for full-size trucks,” the Ram spokesman explained. “The half-ton has a bed load thing where you put a bunch of weight in the truck. Because the truck has air suspension, it automatically levels itself. The three-quarter truck, the Ram 2500, you have to back up and pull a wall straight up and then you push it back down again. The Ram 3500 actually has to use a big, huge two-story pully system to pull 8,000 pounds off the ground.”

The Ram Truck Territory will be open to the public during the 2017 Chicago Auto Show from Saturday, February 11 – Monday, February, 20.
