Team Coulson lives to fight another day, as ABC gives Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” the go for a fifth season.
Though the series hasn’t received Marvel-ous ratings, it maintains a devoted fan following: continuing to thrive creatively over the course of this season with Gabriel Luna on fire on vengeance as Robbie Reyes and his not-so Good Samaritan alter-ego Ghost Rider. Season four also salutes Jason O’Mara as Jeffrey Mace, the new director of S.H.I.E.L.D. After spending two seasons in the shadows in their war against the terrorist cult HYDRA, S.H.I.E.L.D. is official once more with Mace as the face with the name: The Patriot. Mace became a true-blue bona-fide superhero as the man who not only stood behind S.H.I.E.L.D., but the man who gave his life in taking one for the team: saving them inside the Framework from the Life-Model Decoy (LMD) called Aida/Madame Hydra.
The Framework brought the return of fan favorites Tripp (BJ Britt) and Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), the specialist that has brought betrayal, havoc, heartache, and pain among both Team Coulson AND S.H.I.E.L.D. as an undercover mole for HYDRA before finally finding closure within the evil organization as the Inhuman Hive.
Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” continues to follow the uprising of Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team, as they take an oath to protect the world from danger: to be the shield where all else fails.
The season finale, which marks the return of Ghost Rider, airs this Tuesday at 10pm.
