AmericaJR’s Jason Rzucidlo reports from midtown Detroit to check on the progress of the new Little Caesars Arena. The new venue, built from the ground up, will serve as the home of the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Pistons and other concerts/special events. The eight-story arena will be built as a bowl, with its floor 40 feet (12 m) below street level, and projected seating capacities of 20,000 for ice hockey and 21,000 for basketball. A ribbon cutting event is scheduled for Tuesday, September 5. The first public tours of the building will be offered on Saturday, September 9. Then, it officially opens for its first concert featuring Kid Rock on Tuesday, September 12.
