Superhero Sunday: Marvel’s ‘The Gifted’ been pick-up for a season two

Mutants will continue to unite as FOX announced that Marvel’s “The Gifted” has been renewed for a second season.

Set in the world without the X-Men, the series follows the Strucker family being forced to go on the run when Reed (Stephen Moyer) and Caitlin (Amy Acker) discovered that their children Andy (Percy Hynes White) and Lauren (Natalie Alyn Lind) possess the X-Gene, the chromosome responsible for their mutant abilities.  Hunted by agent Jace Turner (Coby Bell) and the Sentinel Services, the Struckers are assisted by the Mutant Underground, an organization dedicated to providing sanctuary and relocation for mutants who are wanted and profiled as ‘terrorists’ by the government.  Involved in the Mutant Underground are military veteran Johnny/Thunderbird (Blair Redford), Marcos/Eclipse (Sean Teale) and his pregnant girlfriend Lorna/Polaris (Emma Dumont), the daughter of Erik Lensherr/Magneto, who founded and lead the Brotherhood of Mutants against Professor Charles Xavier and the X-Men.

Earning rave reviews for its storytelling and its characters, the arrival of Marvel’s “The Gifted” coincided with the 25th anniversary of the fan favorite “X-Men” cartoon, which aired on FOX from 1992 to 1997.

Marvel’s “The Gifted” ends its first season with a two-hour event, which will be a week from Monday.
