AmericaJR’s Jason Rzucidlo reports from the University of Michigan campus for the 35th annual Ann Arbor Summer Festival. In this gallery, you’ll see photos from Saturday, June 9, 2018. The evening kicked off with a live graffiti mural and was followed by musical performances by Misty Lyn and Bonny Doon. As a contingent of the Michigan folk music scene for over a decade, Misty Lyn Bergeron has penned haunting melodies over simple arrangements that traverse the gothic, literary fringes of American roots music. Cosmic American music from “some of the most refreshing additions to the 2018 indie rock landscape” (Vice). Bonny Doon are a new Detroit quartet writing some of the best dreamy slacker pop in the state, and their efforts are going national with a fifty-stop US tour this summer.
