FireKeepers Casino announces plans for second hotel tower

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Focused on sustaining its position as one of the top regional casinos in the country, FireKeepers Casino Hotel today announced plans to construct a second hotel tower at the Battle Creek, Michigan property.   The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi, owners of FireKeepers, along with property executives, made the announcement, with the goal of attracting additional trips from gaming guests throughout the Midwest plus generation of new and larger conventions and business meetings and expansion of its retail market.

FireKeepers Casino Hotel, located just off the I-94 corridor, connecting Detroit and Chicago, opened its 243-room hotel tower in December of 2012.  For the past four consecutive years, the hotel has achieved Four Diamond status by AAA, identifying it among Michigan’s finest hotels.

“Today’s announcement is the first step in the process, as we secure architects and constructions management,” stated Jamie Stuck, Chairman of the NHBP Tribal Council.   “This is a key step in our Strategic Plan for FireKeepers to provide for future generations of our tribe.”

The popularity of FireKeepers hotel has been overwhelming, with occupancy exceeding 95% for the past twelve months!  This has made securing a reservation somewhat challenging for retail guests and larger group business. With more rooms and potentially more meeting space, FireKeepers will be able to market and attract guests from greater distances, bringing new visitors to the area and boosting the local economy.  These guests will be able to enjoy FireKeepers award-winning array of restaurants, superstar entertainment shows and diverse casino, offering nearly 3000 of the newest and most attractive slot machines and 70 table games, plus a 22 table poker room and bingo venue.

“We will build a new tower with a focus on maintaining Four Diamond standards, blending the latest technology with design advances and extensive comforts,” stated Kathy George, FireKeepers CEO.   “When you match a great design with our award-winning guest service, you have a winning combination which will attract additional visitors to southwest Michigan.”

A groundbreaking date will be announced in the near future. Details such as budget, additional jobs, number of rooms, amenities and other specifics will also be released as the project progresses.
