John Wick will be back. Then again, though, we all knew that will happen. But today, Lionsgate is making it official: announcing that John Wick: Chapter 4 is set to be released on May 21, 2021.
Picking up where the second chapter left off in 2017, John Wick: Parabellum finds all bets are off for John Wick with a $14 million dollar contract on his head. Now, he must find safe passage in order to stay alive against everyone who is out to collect the bounty. So, if John Wick wants the peace that continues to elude him, he must prepare for war with plenty of guns (lots of guns), knives, and swords.
John Wick has proven himself to be just as mighty as Avengers: Endgame, as Parabellum took “Earth’s Mightiest Heroes” out of the top spot with a $56.8 million: a record-breaking opening for the franchise. Parabellum is everything that we love about action movies, kung fu, Bruce Lee, The Matrix trilogy and Keanu Reeves, who has been the One since 2014 in the role of the titular hitman.
The first chapter finds John coming out of retirement when people made the mistake of breaking into his house, killing his puppy, stealing his car and leaving him dead: causing Wick to go a bloody rampage of revenge. The second chapter finds Wick still that guy when he goes to Rome to fulfill a blood oath he made to a friend, and ends up taking on the world’s most elite assassins.
However, in this chapter, John Wick may have met his match in Zero (Mark Dacascos).
Co-starring Ian McShane, Lance Riddick, Laurence Fishburne, Angelica Huston, and Halle Berry, John Wick: Parabellum is in theaters now.
