Wonder Woman Wednesday: “Wonder Woman 1984” trailer released

Gal Gadot in "Wonder Woman 1984" (Warner Bros. Pictures)

It was definitely “Superhero Sunday” with not only part one of CW’s “Crisis On Infinite Earths” crossover event with Melissa Benoist as Supergirl, but the long-awaited trailer of Wonder Woman 1984 with Gal Gadot back as the world’s greatest female superhero.

Set in the decade of materialism, excess, success and big hair, Wonder Woman 1984 follows Diana Prince still struggling to stand for the name of all that is good in a world where the only thing that is good is greed, and that is where Max Lord (Pedro Pascal) comes in.

The film centers on her getting involved with the Soviet Union during the height of the Cold War, where Wonder Woman takes on Cheetah (Kristen Wiig).  Helping her is the miraculously alive Steve Trevor (Chris Pine), who told Diana that he can save tomorrow … but she can save the world, for the world still needs Wonder Woman: fighting for those who can’t fight for themselves.

The sequel to the 2017 blockbuster that finally broke the glass ceiling for all female superhero movies, Wonder Woman 1984 lassos into theaters June 5, 2020.
