Samsung debuts refrigerators, robots, TVs and a vacuum at CES 2021

On Monday morning, Samsung introduced refrigerators, robots, TVs and a vacuum during its press conference at the first-ever digital CES 2021. The South Korean-based electronics manufacturer titled its webinar “Samsung: Better Normal for All.”

“Lots has changed since CES 2020,” said Sebastian Seung, president and head of Samsung Research. “Our world looks different and many of you have been faced with a new reality. One where among other things, your home has taken on a great significance. But together, we found new ways to connect. What if your home and those technologies in it were actually built around you? At Samsung, we’re always finding ways to do just that. Today, we’re going to show you how we’re building that future one in where you can live better in your own unique way.”

Samsung unveiled the following new products at CES 2021:

Flex Bespoke 4-door refrigerators that allow consumers to change the colors of each door to meet their needs. The top left door features a new beverage center with an automatically filled water pitcher. Other doors include crispers with temperature and humidity controls. Available in Spring 2021.

MICRO LED 110″ TV based on “The Wall” TV from CES 2018. It features a monolith design, 4 Vue to split your viewing into four separate screens, and more than 160 free channels through Samsung TV Plus. Available in March 2021. All new Samsung TVs will feature Samsung Health workout videos.

Bot Care robot that is described as an assistant and companion. It can offer personal reminders for conference calls and more.

Bot Handy is a home robot that can both recognize and grab objects for you. It can place dishes in and out of the dishwasher, set the table and even pour a glass of wine.-Washers and Dryers with Smart Dial AI technology that learns how you do your laundry. 

Jet Bot 90 AI+ autonomous floor cleaner and vacuum with object recognition technology. It uses LiDAR and 3D sensors to identify objects and decide the best cleaning paths. Also has a camera to check in on your cats or dogs. Jet Bot 90 AI+ will automatically clean your floor once a spill is detected. Available first half 2021.

“Samsung has been continuously improving our robotics,” Seung explained. “Including many types of Bot Retail to help assist and guide you in places like malls and restaurants when it’s safe to all be there again. Robotics combine Samsung’s innovative hardware and cutting-edge AI software to create solutions that both care for you and help you along the way. Each of these robots are built with you in mind.”

At the end of the video, the electronics company discussed its green initiatives. First, Samsung’s new AI powered washing machine optimizes water, detergent and wash cycles to save on water and power. Second, its Bespoke refrigerators allow for customization so consumers don’t need to buy a new one. Samsung also promised to build TV remotes with recycled plastic and solar panels to reduce battery waste. Last year, the company turned used Galaxy phones into portable eye exam devices.
