Pontiac, Mich.— Stellantis introduced it’s all-new 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer at the first-ever Motor Bella held at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Mich. Both large SUVs were on display at the outdoor auto show.
“This is the premium extension of Jeep into the large SUVs market,” said Rachel Fellrath, senior manager of Jeep product marketing. “They’re the largest SUVs we have in the portfolio.
Can you talk about the engine and horsepower?
“Each model has its own powertrain. The Grand Wagoneer comes with a 6.4-liter V8 paired with an 8-speed transmission. The Wagoneer comes with a 5.7-liter V8 with an 8-speed transmission.”
Any plans for hybrid or an electric model? “You’ll have to stay tuned…”
How would you say it compares to other SUVs on the market today?
“We’ll, I would say that I’m a bit biased. Of course, it’s going to be the best. When you take a look on the inside, the interior that’s integrated with technology…there’s 75 inches of screen in this one with 45 inches of screen up front. You have a 12-inch radio, you have a 10.5-inch comfort display that can control your HVAC. We have a class exclusive 10.2-inch front interactive display so the front passenger can now send directions to the driver, watch movies, look at the cameras. We’re really trying to integrate technology to make it very user friendly and work with your active lifestyle.”
How many people can it seat?
“It can seat up to eight. Grand Wagoneer is a standard 7-passenger configuration while Wagoneer is a standard 8-passenger configuration. Both of them you can opt for 7 or 8 passenger configuration.”
Can you tell me more about the sunroofs?
“It has a tri-pane sunroof actually. There are two panes here and there’s a third pane over the third row. Even those who are seated in the third row can bring that outside in. It really adds a lot of light and space to that third row.”
Has miles per gallon been announced yet ?
“You can get up to 22 mpg on the highway depending on which power train you have—just over 580 total miles of range.”
Where are these being made?
“Warren Truck—locally not far from here.”
Oh wow can you talk about pricing and availability ?
“Both Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer come in three trim levels so Series 1,2,3. On Wagoneer Series 1 is going to be late availability so we’re launching Series 2 and Series 3. On Grand Wagoneer, we have Series 1,2,3. We also have an Obsidian model and that’s our dark package. Instead of the chrome bits, you can get the dark wheels, the black accents and the dark unique interior. The Wagoneer starts at $58,845 for the 4×2 and the Grand Wagoneer is a 4×4 only and that starts at $87,845.”
