Las Vegas — Smart home technology is one of the big topics at CES 2024. More and more parts of the home can be controlled by your voice or smartphone to make your life easier.

The Venetian Expo is home to the latest smart home tech, food technology, 3D printing, sports and fitness and other start-up companies during CES.

Anthony Stiefvater from Bemis Manufacturing told me about their new eBidet with smartphone capability called the BB-1200.

“It’s an eBidet with all of your fundamental Bidet functionality,” Stiefvater explained. “What’s really new is it’s app connected. Our goal right now is the simplify the usage of bidets. In this case, it’s really to do two core main elements. Number one to simplify the use of bidets. For those who are a little more experienced, the app allows you to customize your bidet experience. We’re very excited about it. The biggest key is that it’s got these preset functions that allow you to click one button and that’s it.”

Jonathan Zhou from Eureka/Midea Group introduced me to their new smart robotic floor cleaner called the E10S Robotic Vac.

“This robot features a bagless, cyclone system,” Zhou said. “It empties the robot automatically. It is user friendly and doesn’t require a disposable bag. It saves the customer on average $70 per year. That’s really a selling point of this robot. It has a LiDAR sensor that can detect up to 10 meters. It can fully detect the environment of the room. It allows it to walk along the wall with a wall sensor and gets really close to the edge and cleans everything there.”

Finally, Jessica Hawa from GE Profile described their new all-in-one laundry washer and dryer machine. The new combo machine offers 4.8 cubic foot of capacity. It was launched in June 2023 in the U.S. market and is currently available for sale in stores and online.

“We’ve been amazed by the response,” Hawa explained. “It was been widely welcomed into consumers homes. There’s a couple of reasons why it’s been so popular. First, you can wash and dry without any load transfer. We’re able to wash and dry a full-size load in about two hours. This operates on a 110 (volt) so we are saving energy here. Your traditional washer operates on a 220 (volt). You are also to save space because this is the only unit that you need. It’s completely ventless using a sealed heat pump system. It delivers a gentle, kinder dry on your items as well.”

Amazon showed off their new smart eyeglasses called Carrera. They offer Alexa capabilities, the ability to play music and control your smart home from anywhere. You can ask Alexa to lock the doors, turn off thee lights and set your thermostat even when you are away from home.

Many of these new products at CES are coming out later this year or a few years down the road. It is very exciting to see the future products in person.
