Los Angeles — The LA Auto Show returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center from Nov. 22 through Dec 1, 2024. It will feature concept cars and new production models made up of electrics, hybrids and gas-powered vehicles.
“We’re going to see some very exciting, brand new, never-seen-before products,” said Andy Steinhauser, Director of Sponsorship & Business Development at the LA Auto Show. “f you are in the media, in the industry, related to the industry, you must come to AutoMobility LA. It is the annual, all-industry gathering. What’s cool about it is we really make it a networking event. We want this to be a fun day. We kick it off with a networking breakfast and it’s LA so its food trucks but its gourmet. We have all of the debuts, exciting press events and some really exciting launches this year.”
All of the fun and excitement kicks off with AutoMobility LA, the show’s media and industry day on Nov 21st. It will include a range of groundbreaking debuts and announcements, and a conference program featuring the leading minds in automotive and technology. These experts will explore the most pressing industry issues in a series of presentations and panel discussions from AutoMobility LA’s main stage.
“I think EV trucks are going to have a moment at the show. When you think about all of the electric trucks that will be available to see, touch, feel, drive as well as future product that’s coming. RAM has an EV truck I believe we’re going to see it, I’m not 100 percent sure. We’re definitely going to see the Chevy Silverado EV. It’s getting a lot of really exciting attention. Rivian is here and we can’t leave out the Ford Lightning. There’s a company called Exodus Rigs. They’re a luxury RV that’s very cool. It’s a pop-up like an EV RV. It’s so cool and its debuting at the show.”
The following companies will make presentations at AutoMobility LA:
- Bollinger Motors, Exodus Rigs, Fiat, Ford Pro, Hyundai, Isuzu, Kia, Nikola, NILU, GM Envolve, Motiv electric trucks, Porsche Downtown LA, SPARQ, Stellantis, and Volkswagen
Several awards will be presented during AutoMobility LA including:
- The ZEVAS (Zero Emission Vehicle Awards)
- Hispanic Motor Press Awards
- Plug in America’s Drive Electric Awards
- Finalists for 2025 North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards
“The ZEVAS were introduced in 2021 and it kind of sat quiet for two years because quite frankly there wasn’t a lot of new models and innovation and change in the product lineup. But this year the EV product mix is so wide right now. You’re going to see so many of them at the LA Auto Show that we have to bring it back and celebrate. We are excited to see who is going to win. The unique thing about the ZEVAS is that it’s a fan-voted award. If you are at home and you want to have a say at what car wins the awards, this is a chance for the fans to be able to vote.”
Then, the doors swing open for the 2024 LA Auto Show public show days from November 22 – December 1. The show runs for 10 full days, and yes it is even open on Thanksgiving Day.
“Some of the most exciting kind of readditions to the show is Porsche is back this year. Unfortunately, they sit out last year because of an event that took all of their time and bandwidth. From a new product standpoint, Volvo is back at the show for a test drive. You can test drive Rivian’s on the electric vehicle test track. Other exciting brands back at the show: GMC with the Hummer EV, Buick is back and some new stuff that nobody’s ever seen at the auto show such as INEOS Automotive.”
The LA Auto Show is a must-attend event for prospective car buyers, industry executives, influencers, car enthusiasts, and for families wanting to enjoy an unforgettable day out during the holiday season.
“What’s exciting about Jeep is the way they do activations at shows. They do something called Camp Jeep. It’s kind of crazy because I hadn’t done it for a few years. It is kind of like a really crazy thrill ride, honestly. When you get to see what these Jeeps can do, it’s pretty amazing. It’s kind of an indoor ride. The way Jeep is doing it this year is with their 4XE product. It’s actually going to be EV Jeeps and then they will charge them up so it will always be electric. Ram truck is back with their amazing trucks. Also, under that umbrella we have exciting Italian brands like Alfa Romeo and FIAT. There’s going to be some really cool stuff around the Dodge Charger this year and Chrysler.”
Held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the LA Auto Show contributes several hundred million dollars to the city’s economy, stimulates the local job market, and is the number one revenue generator for the convention center.
“We’ve seen a lot of popularity in automakers wanting to have you touch and feel their car and then like, hey, you want to feel it move right here and right now? You can just walk right over, get in that vehicle and go on a hot lap right there in the booth. We have a couple of in-vehicle, in-booth rides. I love this collaboration because I’ve never seen it at any other show. We’ve got Volkswagen and Nissan sharing a space so they’re kind of neighbors and they share a space for the EV track. These indoor ones you more just ride, you don’t drive. It gives you a real sense of how the vehicle moves, there’s an expert driving around.”
Here’s the automakers that will be located inside the South Hall:
- Acura, Alfa Romeo, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Dodge, Fiat, Genesis, GMC, Honda, Hummer, Hyundai, Jeep, Nilu, Nissan, RAM, Toyota, Volkswagen
Here’s the automakers that will be located inside the West Hall:
- Ford, INEOS Automotive, Kia, Subaru
The following automakers will be located in the concourse foyer:
- Porsche presented by Porsche Downtown LA
Meanwhile, VinFast will be located in the south and west atriums. Volvo and Rivian will also offer test drives of their latest vehicles.
“We have Ford doing Bronco Mountain which is the dueling roller coasters of the show: we have Camp Jeep and then Bronco Mountain. What’s really cool about Bronco Mountain this year and this has never been done at our show. The ride actually starts indoors, you’re in the Ford booth, which is always a stunning booth. Ford has done such a good job with that Bronco. It starts indoors and then it actually goes outside on an area that we call the North Plaza closer to the Peacock Theater. You get to go ride outside. The sun does down at 4:30-5:00 p.m. so you can do a little bit of night ride and see some city lights and come back in. It’s super cool.”
Each year, the LA Auto Show hosts the Garage Aftermarket inside Kentia Hall. It features custom vehicles, exotics, classics, motorsports, lowrider, kid cars, hard-to-find collectibles and aftermarket goods and services.
“When you’re there, make sure you go to Kentia Hall which is downstairs. We do have a lot of really cool classic cars down there. Black Classics Car Club is one of our longstanding exhibitors and show some really cool old models. We see customized models, we have an expanded low rider section. This is something that is so deeply culturally rooted in Los Angeles culture. These are, in my opinion, really like art pieces. There is a lot to experience downstairs in the Kentia Hall. You can really meet the people like, ‘Oh, this is my car. I built it.’ Often times, you’ll see that. South Bay Pop Ups is our organizer of our low riders, a female-led Latina who is awesome. Her name is Teresa Avendano. We did a profile on her on our YouTube, it’s one of our LA Auto Show stories.”
West Coast Customs & Monterey Motor Sports Festival will feature special exhibits
“We have an area that is on the main level by the West Hall, it’s called the Petree Hall. That’s going to be filled by West Coast Customs this year. They are doing something very, very cool. We know West Coast Customs from “Pimp My Ride” and all of the celebrities. If you are a car nerd like me, you might remember Mark Zuckerberg’s wife’s Porsche minivan weird thing. West Coast Customs can make your dream a reality. One of the things they are going to do this year is show off some really cool collaborations and new stuff that hasn’t been seen before. That is a bit of a gallery experience this year that you do not want to miss.”
“This year, we have a very exciting collaboration with Monterey Motor Sports Festival which is normally known as a place to go and see Lamborginis and Ferraris, ultra-luxury high end product. They are curating a gallery in our concourse hallway, which is the area that connects both buildings. If you are like, I love cars and of course I want to see the new cars but I also want to see the things you can’t see everywhere, we’re touching everybody this year. We’ve got something for everybody. You’re going to be blown away by the Monterey Motor Sports. The collection of metal is pretty mind boggling, honestly.”
