Detroit — The 2025 Detroit Auto Show rolls into town at Huntington Place and opens to the public on Saturday, January 11-20.  Yes, the auto industry had its ups and downs but their future is bright.  Car enthusiasts will enjoy the bright lights and amazing cars of 2025 and some of the futuristic concepts.  With 700,000 square feet of space, I’m sure you’ll see something you will like.

Some features that the Detroit Auto Show offers are the electric car tracks that you can ride on featuring many models of cars, the show cars from some of the most iconic movies and TV shows, the luxury cars are also in the gallery, and the Jeep and Bronco tracks that takes people over obstacles, hills and rocks.  I think I’ll pass on that one.  Indy 500 winner Josef Newgarden will also be there on Friday, January 17.

As I walked in the showroom, I spotted a beautiful yellow 2025 Corvette ZR1 3LZ Coupe.  I spoke with Shannon Pleva, Production Plus/Corvette about it.  She says it is the fastest production format that Chevrolet’s ever made.

“The first twin turbo we’ve ever put into a Corvette ZR1.  It has a top speed of over 230 mph.  It crushes a quarter mile under 10 seconds.  During that 10 seconds, it reaches 150 mph.  It has 828 lb-ft of torque on track.   It has over 1064 horsepower.  It’s like a rocket.  Going that fast, we have the stopping power.  So we have the most powerful wheel combination, with the Michelin tires with the biggest rotors:  15.7 up front, 15.4 in the rear.  You can stop on a dime, under 100 feet, no problem.”

“We have an iconic rear-split window for 2025.  We have two trim levels in terms of features.  This one is the 3LZ.  On the inside, you’ll have more of the finer touches with micro fiber hand stitching on the doors, and 14 speakers,” says Pleva.

“For our performance enthusiasts, we have this ZR1 that is street legal.  This one is more for the racetrack, with the carbon fiber arrow package which provides 1,200 lbs of downforce.  This vehicle is 5.5-liter dual overhead cam V8 twin turbo.  Our first twin turbo we have ever offered on a Corvette.  The LT7 is the name of the block.  It’s actually the most powerful V8 ever produced by and American automaker at 1064 hp.  It does normally come with a spoiler, but this massive carbon fiber arrow package spoiler is extra.  She says stay tuned for the mph and if this ZR1 is ever going electric.  Also she doesn’t have a date when this ZR1 is coming out to market.”

The pricing for the ZR1 1LZ starts at $174,995; while the ZR1 3LZ starts at $185,995.

“With the engine in the middle behind the driver seat, the interior has the windshield over the front wheels which provides more legroom, more interior and more headroom as well.  With this ZR1, there is a lot of hand stitching on the inside.  They focused on hand craftsmanship.  The seats are made with Napa grade leather,” added Pleva.

“There is a 12-inch diagonal screen on the dash that is fully functionizable.  It does carry over to the driver information center so you can customize your view as well.  It does have a head-up display as well that will project on the windshield,” concluded Pleva.

So this is one of the cars here at the Detroit Auto Show.  The ticket prices are $20 adults, $12 Seniors, and $10 kids.  The hours are 10 am-8 pm every day except Wednesday, January 15 and Thursday, January 16 which is 1 pm-8 pm and on the last day, January 20 its 10am-7 pm.  Come see what the excitement is about.  See you there.
