Mayday Monday: “FOX’s 24: Live Another Day”

London was calling Jack Bauer when Kiefer Sutherland reprise his Emmy-winning iconic role of the counter-terrorism agent in 24: Live Another Day.

Premiered with back-to-back episodes on May, 5, 2014, 24: Live Another Day is the ninth 12-episode season of the real-time thriller.  Set four years later, the series found Bauer still wanted by both the U.S. and Russian governments for what happened in New York City, where he sought to avenge the death of his friend and partner Renee Walker (Annie Wersching).  His actions nearly started World War III.  Now exiled, Jack Bauer comes out of hiding, as he hears about a plot to assassinate visiting U.S. President James Heller (William Devane), whose married daughter Audrey (Kim Raver) had a romantic relationship with Jack.

Now, Jack Bauer must do what Jack Bauer always does best: stop the terrorists, save the President, and save the world.

24: Live Another Day also has Mary Lynn Rajskub back as computer expert Chloe O’Brian, one of the few people Jack trusted over the years.  The series also starred Benjamin Bratt and Yvonne Strahovski.

24: Live Another Day may or may not be his swan song, but it still shows that people love the character Jack Bauer for one reason: he’s the guy who will always do the right thing, no matter what it will cost him – including his life. And that makes him a hero.

24: Live Another Day can be found on Hulu.
