70th Annual Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival Headliner Entertainment Announced

INDIO, Calif. – The 70th Annual Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival is pleased to announce a star-studded performer lineup for the 2016 Fair.

Ranchero singer, Ezequiel Pena, will be performing at the Fair on Saturday, February 13th at 7pm. This banda and mariachi music star has enjoyed a very successful 25 year career. He achieved international recognition in the mid-’90s after teaming up with Marco Antonio Solís to release “Yo Vendo Unos Ojos Verdes‟ in 1994 and Orgullo Ranchero‟ in 1996.

Trace Adkins

Trace Adkins, will be performing on Valentine’s Day, Sunday, February 14th at 7:30pm. Trace Adkins’ trademark baritone has powered countless hits to the top of the charts and sold over 10 million albums, cumulatively. His hit list includes “You’re Gonna Miss This,” “Ladies Love Country Boys,” “Songs About Me,” “EveryLight In The House,” “Hillbilly Bone (Blake Shelton & Trace Adkins),” and “Just Fishin,” to name a few. The Grammy-nominated member of the Grand Ole Opry is a TV personality, actor, author, spokesman for the Wounded Warrior Program and the American Red Cross, for whom he raised over $1.5 million dollars as winner of NBC’s All-Star Celebrity Apprentice. In recent years, Adkinshas performed seven USO Tours.

In his 2007 autobiography, A Personal Stand: Observations and Opinions
from a Freethinking Roughneck, the former oil-rigger recounted his rise to fame, brushes with death, and battles with personal demons. Trace has played a tough as nails biker in The Lincoln Lawyer (starring Matthew McConaughey), and a wise oracle of a tattoo artist in the family-friendly film Moms’ Night Out (starring Patricia Heaton, Sean Astin, Sarah Drew). He also developed and hosted GAC’s “Great American Heroes” honoring every-day heroes.

Morris Day and the Time and Sheila E will be performing at the Fair on Friday, February 19th at 7:00pm. Morris Day fuses soul and dance music with funk, rock n roll, and more. Led by singer-songwriter Morris Day, the band achieved popularity with R&B fans with tracks such as “Jerk Out” and “Jungle Love”. The Time reunited at The 50th Grammy Awards in 2008, performing a medley that included Rihanna and featured their hit song Jungle Love.

Sheila E is a singer, world-class drummer, and percussionist whose credits read like chapters in a music history book: Ringo Starr, Marvin Gaye, Prince, Beyoncé, Herbie Hancock, Diana Ross, Lionel Richie, Gloria Estefan and George Duke. Sheila E.’s fierce, dynamic verve onstage has made her a major concert draw since the 90s. Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter behind the seminal hits “The Glamorous Life” and “A Love Bizarre.” Sheila is a fearless multi- instrumentalist, as well as an Actress, Mentor, and Philanthropist. She will open For Morris Day and the Time.

KC & The Sunshine Band

KC & the Sunshine Band will perform on Saturday, February 20th at 7:30pm. Their songs have included musical styles of funk, R&B, and disco. Four of their albums have gone Platinum or higher. Their best-known songs include the disco hits “That’s the Way (I Like It)”, “(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty”, “I’m Your
Boogie Man”, “Keep It Comin’ Love”, “Get Down Tonight”, “Boogie Shoes”, “Please Don’t Go” and “Give It Up”.

KC’s band has won distinguished awards including a Grammy for Album of the Year “Saturday Night Fever‟ (1979), American Music Award for Favorite Soul/R&B Single for “Get Down Tonight‟ (1976).

On the last day of the Fair, Sunday, Feb 21st, Super Fiesta will pack the house with excitement.  Performing in the Fantasy Springs Concert Pavilion at 3pm is Pedro Rivera with Banda Los Incomparables de Tijuana and Mariachi Alma de Jalisco.

The 70th Annual Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival is presented by Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, the desert’s leader in gaming and entertainment.
