Detroit — There’s a new steakhouse in town.  It’s called Sullivan’s Steakhouse located inside the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel in downtown Detroit, located at 1128 Washington Boulevard.

We had the opportunity to attend the red carpet grand opening of Sullivan’s on Wednesday, September 20.  Sullivan’s is located on the first floor next to the main entrance of the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel on Washington Boulevard.

The ambience of the restaurant is dimly lit and relaxed with recessed lighting with decorative ceiling fixtures.  There are eight booths for seating along with lots of table in the restaurant area.  The seating is made of black leather on the seats and backs and are very comfortable.

There is a bar area with six booths and again many tables.  The libation menu is quite extensive.  I had the knockout, which is a martini with orange vodka infused with fresh pineapple.  I have to say, it was quite refreshing.  They poured the drink through an ice sculpture which was extremely interesting.

We sampled some of their sampler items such as:  carved tenderloin sandwiches, scallops, beef wellington bites, jumbo shrimp cocktail, crab cocktail, pork belly bites, ahi tuna on a chip, and oysters rockefeller.  I have to say these items were superb.  My compliments to the chef!

I had a chance to look at a menu and can say that the Executive Chef, Max Ceaser, has some spectacular choices on it such as:  Filet Mignon 8 oz. $50, 12 oz. $62.  Prime Porterhouse which is dry aged 40 oz. $150.  A5 Wagyu Strip Steak is $25 per oz. (with 4 oz. minimum).  Prime New York Strip 12 oz. $55.

You can enhance your steak with crab-stuffed shrimp $17; broiled lobster tail 8 oz. $45 among others.  Complementary sauce of choice include Bernaise, Bourbon Peppercorn, Bordelaise or Sullivan’s Signature steak sauce.

Also on the menu are appetizers such as oysters on half shell, oysters rockefeller and a seafood showcase which includes jumbo shrimp, cold water lobster tail, wild caught king crab legs, oysters, tuna poke with cocktail and louie sauce priced at market price.  Soups include French onion soup $12, market fresh green salad $12, Steakhouse salad $29.  The Seafood and Chicken offerings are Broiled Salmon with asparagus $36, Ahi Tuna Steak $43, Herb bricked chicken with garlic mashed potatoes $35.  Side dishes include brussel sprouts $13, fresh asparagus $13, Cream-style spinach $13 and Sweet Potato Casserole $13.

The hours for Sullivan’s Steakhouse are Sunday thru Thursday 11 am to 10 pm, Friday and Saturday 11 am to 11 pm.  Happy hour is from 3 pm to 6 pm with $10 bar bites, martini’s and craft cocktails.  They accept reservations.  Stop by Sullivan’s for your next dinner, you won’t be disappointed.
