The AmericaJR.com Web Team visited downtown Long Beach, California. It is a city in Los Angeles County in Southern California, on the Pacific coast of the United States. Downtown Long Beach is located approximately 22 miles (35 km) south of Downtown Los Angeles, though the two cities border each other for several miles on Long Beach’s southwestern portion. The RMS Queen Mary is a 1936 Art Deco ocean liner permanently docked at Long Beach. The Long Beach Grand Prix in April is the single largest event in Long Beach. From 1984 to 2008 it was a Champ Car event, and is now an IndyCar race. During the same weekend as the Grand Prix, there is also an United SportsCar Championship race, a Formula D round and the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race.
