CW’s “Arrow” is going to be on target this season with the addition of actor Wil Traval as Christopher Chance, aka DC Comics’ Human Target. Traval is already known to superhero fans as NYPD police officer Will Simpson on Marvel’s “Jessica Jones” starring Krysten Ritter as the titular hard-drinking, hot mess of a resourceful private investigator. Simpson may have the good looks of Captain America, but those red-white-blue pills didn’t exactly helped his case – especially when Simpson tried to kill his girlfriend Trish (Rachael Taylor) and her BFF Jessica.
A bodyguard-for-hire, Christopher Chance began earning his reputation as the Human Target as a master-of-disguise: taking on the identities of his clients. A human vest, Chance blends in the background with a cover by making his client appear vulnerable. In doing so, Chance can find out who and what the threat is, and save the life of his/her client. Like Robert McCall/the Equalizer, Christopher Chance is a former assassin/covert operative seeking to right the wrongs of his past by setting up a crusade to help protect people in danger as the Human Target. Living by the motto that nobody deserves to die, Christopher Chance is the guy – and name – to go to when there’s no else to help you.
The Human Target appeared twice on television: first as a short-lived 1992 series on ABC starring Grammy-winning rock icon and “General Hospital” (GH) fan favorite Rick Springfield, followed by Mark Valley on FOX for two seasons from 2010 to 2011.
According to TV Line, Traval is set appear on the fifth episode of “Arrow,” where Star City Mayor Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) – aka Green Arrow – becomes the Human Target’s newest client.
The new season of “Arrow” begins Wednesday, October 5 at 8pm on the CW.
