Superhero Saturday: Melissa Benoist – CW’s ‘Supergirl’ – ends four-year marriage

It’s Super-splitsville for Melissa Benoist and husband Blake Jenner!

According to TMZ.com, the “Supergirl” star filed for divorce on grounds of “irreconcilable differences”.  The couple, who married in 2013, were co-stars on FOX’s musical comedy-drama “Glee”, which also co-starred Grant Gustin – aka CW’s “The Flash”: Central City’s Scarlet Speedster and the Fastest Man Alive.

Blake recently guest-starred on “Supergirl” last season for two episodes as Adam Foster, the estranged son of media mogul Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart), who made Supergirl into a brand of hope, positivity, female empowerment and goodness as National City’s Girl of Steel against alien threats in the name of truth, justice, and the American Way.  The character Adam was also the brief love interest for future journalist Kara Danvers (Melissa) – aka Supergirl, the cousin of Metropolis’ Man of Steel known as Superman, the first strange visitor from the planet Krypton who define the foundation of fighting the never-ending battle for truth, justice, and the American Way.

Like her cousin, “Supergirl” becoming one of the “World’s Finest” alongside superheroes “The Flash” and “Arrow”, “The Brave and the Bold” of the CW.

Directed by Kevin Smith, “Supergirl Lives” Monday, January 23.  Season 1 of “Supergirl” is available on Blu-Ray and DVD, as well as on Netflix.
