Las Vegas — CES, also known as the Consumer Electronics Show, returned to several venues across Las Vegas in early January. Here are some of the hottest new technologies I spotted during my visit:

Moen showed off their new smart faucets with motion control. These new faucets can be controlled using the Moen app or by voice with Amazon Alexa and Google Home smart devices. They are also touchless—move your hand over the sensor to the left for hot water or to the right for cold.

“Our smart faucets launched two years ago but we have an enhancement with motion control,“ said Ryan Sterba, senior product manager at Moen. “There’s four ways that we can activate this faucet. You can activate it via the handle the traditional way. You can also activate the faucet with the sensor on top. That’s what we’re really calling motion control. As you swipe to the left, you will be requesting hot water. As you swipe right, you will be requesting cold water. The cold or hot water temperature that you are requesting is managed through our app. If you swipe down, you can request warm water. You can request off by giving the faucet a high five. Other ways you can activate this faucet are by voice. You can ask Alexa to turn off the faucet.”

Pricing for the Moen Smart Faucet with Motion Control starts at $675 and it will be available by April 2022. For more info, go to https://www.moen.com/innovation/motionsense

Twenty-three million Americans report having at least one package stolen. That’s where GLO can help. It addresses security in the rapidly growing e-commerce sector.

1Ahead Technologies introduced me to their entry management device called GLO. From the outside, it looks like an Amazon door bell but it does much more than just capture video. GLO features the unique ability to create a virtual key consisting of an image. The GLO system utilizes an AI driven device called “VALT” which stands for virtual access and logistics technology.

“It actually has artificial intelligence integrated so that when you walk up to it, it’s going to say, ‘Hi Mom, How may I help you?’ Said Ron Carter, founder and CEO of 1Ahead Technologies. “It has the ability to recognize your response and to provide logistics if necessary. This technology was actually designed to retire all of the existing video doorbell systems because the AI capability makes it far more advanced. In addition to AI, it has what is called a virtual key that allows you to create a key by just taking a picture or using an image from your gallery. Essentially, this technology was designed to support E-commerce but it also provides whole home security. It’s far superior to anything in the marketplace. It has the ability to read a package. When a package is scanned, it has the ability to open a smart lock such as a mailbox or smart box.”

When a package arrives, the delivery person can scan the GLO device and then a locker will open to store it safely until the consumer returns home. Here’s founder and CEO Ron Carter to tell us more About it. Look for the 1Ahead GLO to be available this summer. Pricing starts at $269. For more information visit www.1Aheadtechnologies.com.

To.Tem premiered their all new three-wheeled Lynx electric scooters at CES. It features a rear camera and artificial intelligence system for collision alerts. These Lynx scooters are foldable for easy carrying and storage. The battery can be easily accessed under the cell phone holder in the center and can be replaced when recharged. The eMotion model comes with a 187-watt battery producing 12.5 miles of range. Meanwhile, the eVision model features a 350-watt battery and 25 miles of range.

“To.Tem is an Italian startup based in Torino and we developed this electric scooter,“ said Massimiliano Meus, chief technology officer at To.Tem. “It is fully built in Italy. One of the cool things about this scooter is that it has three wheels for stability. It also has a collision alert system through rearview camera.”

Both To.Tem Lynx scooters are available right now. For more info, visit https://www.totemev.com/en/kickscooters/.

French-based Samea Innovation debuted their all-in-one environmental sensor called Sensoriis. It monitors CO2, temperature, humidity, vibration, sound levels, air pressure, smoke, color temperature and brightness.  The company also premiered their asset tracker technology called ThinkTrack, which is perfect for locating packages and other valuables.

“This is a sensor for a small building capable of 15 data and monitor air quality,“ said Sebastien Amiot, CEO of Samea Innovation. “This is a very, very important topic since it is important to make sure we have good air quality. We also have developed a second product which we introduced at the opening of CES which is a GPS tracker capable to be slide into an envelope, parcel or any goods like wallets, luggage which enables to track and secure your shipment but also to make sure the device will not be stolen.“
