Earl
of Sandwich is located on the University of Michigan main
campus.
I ordered the All
American hot sandwich. It comes with roasted turkey, cranberries,
sharp cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and ranch dressing and
freshly made on artisan bread. WOW was it good.
On the menu, they
have quite a selection of sandwiches such as The Original
1762 which is roast beef, horseradish sauce and sharp cheddar
cheese. Also they have the Ultimate Grilled Cheese sandwich,
Ham 'n' Swiss, BLT's, Caribbean jerk chicken and others.
I also tried the
tomato soup with croutons which was excellent. Also on the
menu are tossed salads and wraps, breakfast sandwiches, muffins,
yogurt parfaits, and yogurt smoothies. I also had the Earl's
Grey Lemonade which is an infusion of fresh lemonade and Earl
Grey Tea. I loved it.
The prices were
$5.75 per sandwich and it's definitely worth it. The sandwich
was superb. The soup was $1.95.
The atmosphere
was quaint, with dark wood futniture and wood floors. It is
a sit-down restaurant with a flat scrren tv for viewing while
you eat and also board games if you want to play while you
eat. There is also a banquet room in the back for parties.
Being one block
from the University of Michigan campus, it's on a street where
there is lots of people roaming around with shops, restaurants
and bookstores galore.
The service was
fabulous, there is a station where you order and a station
where you pick up.
I would definitely
recommend this restaurant even if its a drive from where you
live.
