LOS ANGELES --
Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and CMS Hospitality today celebrated
the opening of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf ® – a Southern
California landmark since 1963 – at Los Angeles International
Airport (LAX). This is the first airport site for The Coffee Bean
& Tea Leaf ® and is located in Terminal 6 after passenger
security screening.
Renowned for their Original
Ice Blended® drinks, rare loose-leaf teas and premium coffees,
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® at LAX will offer its menu favorites
including the finest grades of Arabica coffee, hand-plucked whole
leaf teas and fresh baked goods. This is the first of five The Coffee
Bean & Tea Leaf® locations slated for opening at LAX in
2012.
“The Coffee Bean
& Tea Leaf® is an essential part of the Los Angeles experience
and now travelers will be able to enjoy it at LAX,” said Gina
Marie Lindsey, LAWA executive director. “Today’s opening
continues the vision we share with CMS Hospitality in bringing popular,
local flavors to the traveling public that will help put the ‘L-A’
back into ‘L-A-X.’”
“I am extremely
pleased that The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® selected CMS Hospitality
to be its first airport operator in its home city of Los Angeles,”
said CMS Hospitality President and CEO Clarence A. Daniels, Jr.
“I know LAX passengers will be just as pleased to have The
Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® experience available at LAX.”
The main objective of
new concessions is to increase passenger satisfaction by introducing
a world-class concessions program reflecting the best of local,
regional and national concepts appropriate for LAX. Particular emphasis
is placed on creating a “sense of place” reflecting
the locales and flavor of the Los Angeles region, while encouraging
local and Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise
participation.
CMS Hospitality is a
Los Angeles based airport concession company, founded by Clarence
A Daniels, Jr. in 1996 at LAX. Today CMS operates 23 food and beverage
locations in six airports and has recently been selected to develop
eight new food and beverage locations in LAX terminals 7 and 8 which
will include two additional The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf® locations.
Los Angeles International
Airport (LAX) is the sixth busiest airport in the world and third
in the United States, offering more than 565 daily flights to 81
domestic cities and over 1,000 weekly nonstop flights to 66 international
destinations on over 75 air carriers. In 2010, LAX served over 59
million passengers, processed over 1.9 million tons of air cargo
valued at nearly $80 billion, and handled 575,835 aircraft operations
(landings and takeoffs). LAX is part of a system of three Southern
California airports – along with LA/Ontario International
and Van Nuys general aviation – that are owned and operated
by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), a proprietary department of
the City of Los Angeles that receives no funding from the City’s
general fund.
