LOS
ANGELES -- Infiniti
debuted the 2013 JX seven passenger crossover vehicle at the Los
Angeles Auto Show. It is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing
265 hp. Two versions are offered: front-wheel drive and all-wheel
drive. The JX comes standard with 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels,
however 20-inch aluminum-allow wheels are optional. The overall
length of the vehicle is 196.4 inches while the width is 77.2
inches and the height is 67.8 inches. Pricing has already been
announced for the JX. It will be built at Infiniti's manufacturing
facility in Smyrna, Tenn.
Infiniti
had the sixth press conference on the first press day of the auto
show. Also, it was the sixth reveal to take place inside the L.A.
Convention Center's south hall.
"The
luxury crossover segment is the fastest growing luxury segment
in America representing more than 400,000 units last year,"
said Andy Palmer, executive vice president of Infiniti. "That's
a great opportunity for us, but only if done the Infiniti way.
With this new JX, we are directly addressing the needs of today's
families. Following extensive consumer research, Infiniti has
created the next great luxury family vehicle. One with seductive
design, sophisticated craftsmanship, a roomy interior, innovation
that makes life more efficient and advanced safety features."
The
all-new JX comes with excellent legroom in all three rows of seating
and ample cargo space behind the third row. The middle seat design
allows for passengers to get to the third row without having to
remove the second row child seat.
The
luxury crossover comes with backup collision intervention and
blind spot intervention system. When in reverse, the vehicle will
assist the driver in noticing crossing vehicle and objects behind
the JX. If necessary, the vehicle can automatically engage the
brakes to help avoid a crash.
"This
new JX can turn the category inside out with big utility and roominess
inside," Palmer added. "An exterior that expresses a
new Infiniti design language inspired by the stunning Essence
concept. The JX doesn't try to hide its family functionality,
but like every Infiniti makes a clear statement of the owner's
taste. It offers the classic Infiniti driver-oriented cockpit
with a stunning, new intelligent view instrument panel display.
A crossover that can carry both children and adults without putting
them in a rear sear penalty box and an end to climbing over a
second-row child seat."
Infiniti
Connection is a new option available for purchase. It is a feature
that can synch the driver's schedule from Google Calendar and
then offer turn-by-turn directions to appointments. It also allows
for drive zone and speed alerts and many other functions. The
system is also compatible with Infiniti Personal Assistant, which
can arrange dinner reservations, make changes to a flight or purchase
anniversary gifts.
