Dreamin'" is the theme of this year's Route 66 International
Festival in Victorville, Calif.

VICTORVILLE,
Calif. -- The Festival Committee has released the list
of keynote speakers and guests attending this year’s Route
66 International Festival 2012. The list includes famed authors,
historians and custodians of the Mother Road who will each give
their updates, personal views and stories of Route 66. The Festival
banquets are both held at the Historic Green Tree Inn, Victorville,
CA.
The Friday Evening
Banquet – “California 50's Dreamin’ Celebration”
will take place at the Historic Green Tree Inn on Friday, August
10th from 5:00pm-8:00pm and is hosted by the National Historic Route
66 Federation. The banquet will feature speakers including Cynnie
Troup sharing memories of her famous father, Bobby Troup, who composed
the most popular song about Route 66. Joining Cynnie will be Zdenek
Jurasek of the Czech Republic Route 66 Association, giving details
about the growing popularity of Route 66 in Europe. And the final
guest speaker will be Jim Farber, Guest Curator of the upcoming
Route 66 exhibit at the Autry National Center. Tickets are $29.00
per person.
The Festival finale will
be the Saturday Evening Banquet – “Hooray for Hollywood”
taking place at the Historic Green Tree Inn on Saturday, August
11th from 6:00pm-8:00pm and is hosted by the California Historic
Route 66 Association. Each annual international festival is attended
by three time Pulitzer Prize nominee, Michael Wallis, who will present
the “State of the Road” address. In addition to publishing
over sixteen books, Mr. Wallis was the voice of the Sheriff in the
Disney/Pixar movie, CARS. The buffet dinner will also include an
update on Route 66 Preservation Projects by Kaisa Barthuli, National
Parks Service Route 66 Corridor Preservation Program Director. Tickets
are $39.00 per person.

The Festival Committee has just announced the Route 66 International
5K Race at this year’s Route 66 International Festival
2012 at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds to be held on Saturday,
August 11th with pre-race registrations at 5:30am and the official
race starting at 7:00am.
The race course will take athletes and locals on a 3.2 mile race
along historic Route 66 through the city giving breath-taking views
of the High Desert and surrounding areas. This event is open to
all classes of athletes, walkers and locals who want to experience
a piece of Route 66 in their own backyard.
All entries will receive
a T-shirt and medal on completion of the race. Time keeping for
this race is by Gemini Timing. Top 3 Male & Female winners will
receive awards and Age Division winners receiving certificates.

be appearing at the Taste of 66 – Gourmet Food Truck &
Wine Festival at this year’s Route 66 International Festival
2012.
Ingrid Hoffmann is known
internationally as the Hispanic Martha Stewart; and is passionate
about food and entertaining family & friends. Host of the Food
Network & Cooking Channel series – “Simply Delicioso”
– Ingrid is also a frequent guest on The Today Show, Regis
& Kelly and the Martha Stewart Show.

The Festival Committee
has announced that the Annual National Miss Route 66 Pageant
will be held at the Route 66 International Festival 2012.
This year the Route 66 International Festival will feature the National
Miss Route 66 Pageant – a fun event for ages 1-100. The National
Miss Route 66 Pageant will be held on Saturday, August 11th, 2012
starting at 10:00am at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds –
AlaskaUSA Building #6.
This is a one day, walk
on, fun event pageant, which is held in support of Route 66. It
gives seasoned competitors an opportunity to practice their pageant
skills, concentrating on typical areas of judging and introduces
the first time contestant to the world of pageantry without the
added expense of an expensive wardrobe.
This year’s theme
will be – “Red, White & Blue.”
The pageant will have
3 segments – no interviews will be held, and there will be
minimal duties or responsibilities required of the winners. All
Title Holders are encouraged to support activities that preserve
and promote the “Mother Road,” including their respective
State Route 66 Association, local Route 66 Museums and Visitor Centers,
Route 66 Car Clubs and other local community organizations.

The California Historic
Route 66 Association announced the Route 66 International Festival
2012 will be held in Victorville, CA at the San Bernardino County
Fairgrounds from August 9-12, 2012. With the theme “California
Dreamin’ on Route 66”, the Route 66 International Festival
will attract thousands of Route 66 enthusiasts from across the country,
including international visitors from 17 different countries, as
well as local residents.
Each year, one of eight
states through which Route 66 runs is selected to host the annual
event. Victorville, California was an overwhelming choice for the
Route 66 International Festival 2012, especially with its California
Route 66 Museum located on “D” Street in Victorville
and many other local tourist-friendly attractions. The San Bernardino
County Fairgrounds is the only fairgrounds located on Route 66.
Victorville is centrally located along the 318 miles of historic
Route 66 that crosses California from Needles to Santa Monica, making
it convenient to visit other key Route 66 towns and attractions.
This year’s Route
66 International Festival will feature a “meet and greet”
welcome event at the Historic Green Tree Inn, Vintage Car &

Festival in time for the celebrations.
