LOS ANGELES -- The L.A. Kings and their loyal fans have been waiting for this moment for the longest time, and the time has come. On Jan. 19, the Stanley Cup Championship Banner was raised at the Staples Center.

Before they raised the banner, there was a pre-game fan fest held outside the Staples Center, where kids enjoyed a friendly game of street hockey, even the adults played as well. There was face painting, prizes were given away, and the L.A. Kings Ice rink at LA Live was opened as well.

While everyone was enjoying themselves, the time came to walk the Stanley Cup into the Staples Center. Since it's a special occasion and we are in L.A., a red carpet was rolled out. Hundreds of fans gathered around the red carpet to get a glimpse of the Stanley Cup.

Once the Stanley Cup made its way inside the arena, then fans were allowed to take their seats for the presentations and opening ceremonies, before the puck touched the ice to kick off the 2013 Season.

It was a great way to wrap up the Kings' first-ever Stanley Cup victory. Fans had to wait much longer than normal to see the banner raised due to the strike between the NHL and the player's union.

Unfortunately, the Kings lost their first game of the 2013 shortened season, 5-2 against the Blackhawks. The Kings will be on the road for their next three games, including the Colorado Avalanche on Jan. 22 at 9 p.m., the Edmonton Oilers on Jan. 24 at 9:30 p.m. and the Phoenix Coyotes on Jan. 26 at 8 p.m.
