"We can talk all day of the amazing accolades of this amazing couple," she said. "Who hasn't done their own personal imitation of Edith Ann?"

Hollywood photographer Michael Childers was next to address the crowd.

"One thing I can say is these are two serious ladies about their craft," he said. "Their passion for perfection and their activism for social justice. I know them as champions for women's rights."

"I have personal feelings for these ladies," he said. "Lily's mom was like a grandmother to us. In 1997, Lily had always wanted a family in Palm Springs. My wife, Regina, came out with them and they moved here."

Tomlin and Wagner were presented with a bouquet of flowers.
