The
law school is named in honor of Thomas M. Cooley, a prominent nineteenth-century
jurist, Justice and later Chief Justice of the Michigan Supreme
Court, former Dean of the University of Michigan Law School, and
visiting faculty at the Johns Hopkins University.

Thomas
M. Cooley Law School was established by a group of lawyers and judges,
led by the former Chief Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court, Thomas
E. Brennan, in 1972.

The
stadium is situated in the heart of downtown Lansing in the Stadium
District on a relatively narrow strip of land between and below
two streets (Larch and Cedar Streets) of the Capitol Loop, making
for a unique urban feel.

It
is primarily used for baseball, though when baseball season is over
it is used for everything from an ice skating rink to a movie theater.

Thomas M. Cooley Law School is a Michigan-based
law school in the United States. Its main campus is located
in Lansing, Michigan, and it has satellite campuses in Ann
Arbor, Grand Rapids, and Auburn Hills. Its enrollment, which
is 85 percent part-time only, makes it the largest law school
in the United States. Thomas Cooley is the law school alma
mater of one former Michigan Governor and two United States
Congressmen. Thomas Cooley's aggregate enrollment is known
for being among the most diverse of American law schools.
