Saginaw
Valley State University
Saginaw
Valley State University, commonly known as SVSU, is a state
university in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is located in
the middle of Michigan's lower peninsula in the Saginaw Valley
region and serves the cities of Bay City, Midland, and Saginaw.
The university is located in Kochville Township, Saginaw County.
However, its "official" address places it in University
Center, Michigan, which it shares with Delta College (which
is 3.3 miles to the north-northwest, in Bay County's Frankenlust
Township). It is the youngest of Michigan's 15 public colleges
and universities. Saginaw Valley State University is one of
the fastest growing universities in Michigan, and has continued
to grow year after year. For the Fall 2008 semester, SVSU
saw its largest incoming freshman class yet with 1,667 arriving
and 77% of them live on campus. The University's overall enrollment
now stands at 9,882 students: a record level for the youngest
public university in Michigan. Saginaw Valley State University
is also continually building on to its campus, whether in
new housing developments for students or in new buildings
to help further the academic achievement of the students.
