Because
of the nearby film industry, the pier and the nearby Santa Monica
boardwalk are used for location shoots for television and movies.
The pier is also featured during the fourth and fifth season opening
titles to Three's Company. Perhaps its most famous appearance
on screen is in Titanic or in Forrest Gump, when Forrest
runs to the West Coast, turns around and heads back east.

There
are a total of twelve rides in Pacific Park, including a ferris
wheel that provides a view of the Pacific Ocean and a roller coaster
that circles the majority of the park.

The
Egyptian Theatre was the venue for the first-ever Hollywood premiere.
The film was Robin Hood starring Douglas Fairbanks. The grand opening
premiere was on Wednesday, October 18, 1922. The film reportedly
cost over $1 million.
