It’s a new phase in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with next summer’s Black Widow: marking Scarlett Johansson’s 10-year anniversary of playing Natasha Romanoff, who first appeared as Tony Stark’s shadow on behalf of Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) in 2010’s Iron Man 2 opposite Robert Downey, Jr’s titular armored billionaire-playboy-genius-philanthropist.
With red in her ledger from her years with the KGB, Romanoff has spent her life wiping it out: first with the super-spy agency S.H.I.E.L.D., then as one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes with the Avengers.
Set between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, Black Widow finds Romanoff reuniting her team and assembling them on a mission of “unfinished business” from the past.
Her team includes fellow sister spy Yelena (Florence Pugh), Melina (Rachel Weisz) and Red Guardian (David Harbour), the Russian counterpart to Captain America.
Marvel’s Black Widow is set for May 1, 2020.
