LOS
ANGELES -- Just Like Chrysler, Ford Motor Co. is not bringing
any concept vehicles to the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. However,
the Dearborn, Mich.-based automaker is going to introduce several
2014 models of its popular vehicles. The 2014 Ford Fiesta and 2014
Ford Transit Connect Wagon will make their North American debuts
in L.A. next week. The Ford Motor Co. press conference is set for
Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 1:05 p.m. In addition, some of the automakers'
other big reveals in L.A. will include the Fusion Energi and the
C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrids.
"The
L.A. Auto Show is really going to offer Ford the opportunity to
really show how we continue to deliver more fuel-efficient products
for our customers through some of our new product reveals,"
said Angie Kozleski, a communications manager for Ford Motor Co.
"This includes the North American debut of the new Ford Fiesta,
which is our small car. When it arrives and launches in America
next year, it will also feature our newest EcoBoost engine, which
is the 1-liter EcoBoost engine. We will not have any concept cars
in L.A."
What will
be some of the other new production models that will be on display?
"We
will also have on display at the auto show, the Transit Connect
Wagon, which is a personal use version of the Transit Connect,"
she added. "That will be the most fuel-efficient and affordable
seven passenger vehicle in America. Those vehicles will be 2014.
We also have some of our other vehicles that will be on display
at the L.A. Auto Show including the new family of Ford Fusions,
which includes the Fusion, the Fusion Hybrid, as well as the Fusion
Energi. We will also have the C-MAX Hybrid and the C-MAX Energi
on display at the auto show."
Will Ford's
display be similar in size to last year?
"Our
display will be about the same size as last year," the communications
manager explained. "We have a number of interactive exhibits
for consumers who are visiting the L.A. Auto Show. When they go
to the Ford stand, they can experience the circle that has technology
demonstrations in eight different Ford vehicles. They will be able
to take a look at our electric vehicle line-up. There's a Mustang
corner there so they will be able to take a look at Mustang, a Fusion
design studio. They'll also be able to have some fun with Focus
ST and Focus ST simulator."
Are you
saying there will be more interactive activities than last year?
"I
think we just continue to look at different ways that we can engage
consumers and offering them unique ways they can take a closer look
at our Ford products," Kozleski said. "This year with
the addition of the Fusion Hybrid and the Fusion Energi and the
C-MAX Hybrid and the C-MAX Energi, we're able to put a greater emphasis
on our electric line-up. They're really going to be able to take
a closer look at Ford technology across the line-up and understand
the ease of use through our vehicle demonstration."
What can
the media look forward to on press days?
"During
our press conference, we will be showing our new Ford Fiesta, talking
about our new EcoBoost engines and we have a couple of other surprises
that we'll share that day."
How about
for the public days -- what can folks expect there?
"Obviously,
our show floor will feature the entire Ford line-up," she added.
"From the Fiesta to the Focus to the Fusion family moving into
the C-MAX family, which is our hybrid and C-MAX Energi vehicle.
You've got Mustang, which is always a fan favorite in California.
You move into our utilities, you've got Ford Flex, Ford Explorer,
Ford Edge and then you have the all-new Ford Escape. Trucks, obviously
very important for Ford, you've got all of our trucks out there
as well."
How many
Ford vehicles will be participating in the ride-and-drive outside?
"I
don't have that information readily available," the communications
manager explained. "I don't believe we'll have any vehicles
in the ride-and-drive during press days. We in the past have done
our own ride-and-drive. I don't know if we are participating in
the one attached to the show."
Can you
talk a little bit about the Lincoln stand?
"The
Ford and the Lincoln stands are adjacent to each other," Kozleski
said. "We'll have a number of different things that take place
there. We'll have an MKZ gallery. We'll also have our other vehicles
including the MKS and MKT and MKX on display at the Lincoln stand.
Lincoln will not have a press conference."
Any other
final comments about the L.A. Auto Show?
"If
you look at the population in Los Angeles and consumers and how
they're really embracing technology and fuel-efficiency and vehicles
like electric vehicles, this really gives us an opportunity to showcase
our newest vehicles in this environment showing how we are delivering
more fuel-efficient solutions across our vehicle line-up. It is
a great opportunity to engage with media during the press days and
then more importantly, we've got a great display for our consumers
during public days."
