Futuristic technology to be unveiled at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show By Jason Rzucidlo

Google has spent the last three years and $2 million in testing autonomous vehicles -- automobiles that can drive entirely on their own. In September, California Gov. Chevrolet to introduce the Spark EV at 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show By Jason Rzucidlo

General Motors has big plans for the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. One of those plans is the world debut of the Spark EV all-electric vehicle. It will be powered by a lithuim-ion battery supplied by A123 Systems with an electric motor producing up to 114 horsepower. It is expected to have a driving range of 81 miles under normal conditions. The Spark EV will also come with regenerative braking, which allows it to charge itself when stopped at red lights or stop signs. This will be GM's first all-electric vehicle since the EV1 project was scrapped in 2003. [11.10.12]

2014 Ford Fiesta, 2014 Ford Transit Connect Wagon to be revealed at 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show By Jason Rzucidlo

Just Like Chrysler, Ford Motor Co. is not bringing any concept vehicles to the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. However, the Dearborn, Mich.-based automaker is going to introduce several 2014 models of its popular vehicles. The 2014 Ford Fiesta and 2014 Ford Transit Connect Wagon will make their North American debuts in L.A. next week. The Ford Motor Co. press conference is set for Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 1:05 p.m. In addition, some of the automakers other big reveals in L.A. will include the Fusion Energi and the C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrids. 2013 Cadillac ATS Named Motor Press Guild Vehicle Of The Year

Motor Press Guild (MPG), the largest automotive media association in North America, today announced the all-new 2013 Cadillac ATS as the winner of the second-ever Motor Press Guild Vehicle of the Year (VOTY) Award. MPG President Laura Burstein will present the award at Cadillac's press conference on the second day of the Los Angeles Auto Show press days on Nov. 29, 2012 at 12:20 p.m. The 2013 Cadillac ATS was one of six finalists chosen by a select panel of MPG journalist members who test and review cars on a regular basis. The entry level version comes with the same 2.7-liter boxer-six engine as the Boxster, but it has 275 horsepower and 214 lb.-ft. of torque compared with the roadster's 265 hp and 206 lb.-ft. of torque. It will go from zero to 60 mph in just 5.1 seconds. The Cayman S can do that in 4.4 seconds. The 2014 model of the Cayman will weigh 60 pounds less than previous models. Fiat shows off three new models at 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show By Jason Rzucidlo

Just two years ago, Fiat came to the Los Angeles Auto Show and introduced the 500 to the American market. Last year, the automaker showed a commercial during the Super Bowl and sales skyrocketed. Fiat returned to the L.A. Auto Show this year with the 500e, the 500L and the 500L Trekking. The debuts took place during the automaker's press conference on the first media day of the auto show on Nov. 27. The 2013 Fiat 500e will be the Italian automaker's first electric vehicle in the American market. It is expected to achieve 116 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) and 100 MPGe on the highway of battery-electric power. Therefore, it will produce zero tailpipe emissions. It will provide more than 80 miles of electric range on a single charge. It also produces 111 horsepower and can be recharged in less than four hours with a 240-volt cord. Mustangs from the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show By Steven Valline

While there is no big news or announcements from Ford for Mustang fans at this year’s LA Auto Show, there were of course Mustangs at the show. Steve Saleen did announce the S351 Mustang, and there were lots of Ford big wigs at the show. But the emphasis from Ford was on smaller, more fuel efficient cars, like the Focus, Fiesta and C-Max. Of course Ford had a Mustang alley lined with the usual suspects and engines on stands. And the Mustangs continues to be a popular choice of custom booths. Porsche introduces 2014 Cayman and Cayman S at 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show By Jason Rzucidlo

Porsche showed off the third generation, 2014 models, of the Cayman and Cayman S. The debuts took place during the automaker's press conference on the first media day of the auto show on Nov. 27. Both models were built from the grown up. They are lower to the ground, lighter in weight, faster in speed and more fuel efficient. The Cayman is equipped with a 2.7-liter engine producing 275 horsepower. Meanwhile, the Cayman S comes with a 3.4-liter engine creating 325 hp. Both models use 15 percent less fuel for every 100 km (62 miles) than the previous version. [11.29.12]

Mazda reveals the 2014 Mazda6 at 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show By Kelly Rosales

Mazda has a lot riding on this model. The midsize sedan segment, is the American new car market. Mazda has stiff competition with the Toyota Camry, Hyundai, Honda and Nissan. Chevrolet Volt once again ranked highest in Consumer Reports' Owner Satisfaction Survey By Jason Rzucidlo

For the second straight year, the Chevrolet Volt was named the best vehicle, according to readers of Consumer Reports. Ninety-two percent of those surveyed selected the Volt in the magazine's owner-satisfaction survey. Last year, it was chosen by 93% of readers. The Volt is a plug-in hybrid vehicle that can travel for about 40 miles on electricity before the gas-powered engine recharges the battery. It is priced at just below $40,000 before a $7,500 federal tax credit. Consumer Reports said owners of about 350,000 vehicles participated in the survey. [12.1.12]

Honda worked fast to make improvements to the Civic after the 2012 model was slammed by critics. The automaker introduced the completely redesigned Civic sedan for the 2013 model year. The 2013 Civic comes with all-new front and rear exterior styling along with upgrades to the interior. It is equipped with a 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine producing 140 horsepower and 128 lb.-ft. of torque. Nissan introduced the Hi-Cross Concept to show what the automaker has in store for future crossover designs and technology direction. The vehicle made its North American debut during the automaker's press conference on the first media day of the auto show on Nov. 28. The Hi-Cross Concept features the same fast-charging lithium-ion battery that's on the Nissan LEAF. The Hi-Cross Concept features ample seating for seven passengers. In addition, it has LED lighting and 21-inch aluminum alloy wheels. No word on if this vehicle will ever make it into production, but it definitely has a nice design. [12.3.12]

Subaru shows off the 2014 Forester crossover at 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show By Jason Rzucidlo

Subaru debuted the fourth generation or 2014 model of its Forester crossover SUV. The vehicle made its North American debut during the automaker's press conference on the first media day of the auto show on Nov. 28. The new Forester comes with a choice of two engines: a 2.0-liter boxer engine producing 250 horsepower or a 2.5-liter boxer engine producing 170 horsepower. It reaches an estimated fuel economy of 32 mpg on the highway. New features include hill descent control, driver assist technology and an enhanced active all wheel drive system. [12.4.12]

MINI introduces 2014 Paceman crossover at 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show By Jason Rzucidlo

MINI revealed the 2014 model of its Paceman crossover SUV, just one year after it was a concept vehicle at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The vehicle made its North American debut during the automaker's press conference on the first media day of the auto show on Nov. 28. The standard Paceman is equipped with a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine producing 121 horsepower and 114 lb.-ft. of torque. It can go from zero to 60 mph in 9.7 seconds and features a top speed of 117 mph (114 in the automatic model). [12.5.12]

The new Jaguar F-Type represents a return to the company's heartland: a two seater, convertible sports car focused on performance, agility and driver involvement. Chevrolet debuts the 2014 Spark EV; teases new Corvette at 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show By Jason Rzucidlo

We told you it was coming. AmericaJR.com was proud to be the first news outlet to announce that the 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV would be revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show this year. It is much smaller than the Chevrolet Volt. The Spark EV is General Motors' first pure electric vehicle since the EV1 project was scrapped in 2003. The automaker also announced its partnership with the new PlayStation video game, Gran Turismo 5. Kia unveils the 2014 Forte sedan at 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show By Jason Rzucidlo

Kia introduced the second generation, or the 2014 model, of its Forte sedan. The vehicle made its world debut during the automaker's press conference on the first media day of the auto show on Nov. 28. It comes with a choice of two motors: a 1.8-liter engine producing 148 horsepower and 131 lb.-ft. of torque or a larger, 2.0-liter engine creating 173 hp and 153 lb.-ft. of torque. The new Forte also comes with leather seating, navigation/infotainment system, LED running lamps and a choice of 15-, 16- and 17-inch wheels. [12.8.12]

Toyota shows off the 2013 RAV4 crossover SUV at 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show By Jason Rzucidlo

Toyota debuted the fourth generation, or 2014 model, of its RAV4 crossover SUV. The vehicle made its world debut during the automaker's press conference on the first media day of the auto show on Nov. 28. All trim levels of the RAV4 come equipped with a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. Other features include color-keyed door handles, 17-inch steel wheels, a color-keyed rear spoiler and a 6.1-inch display unit with a backup camera. The 2013 Toyota RAV4 starts at $24,145 and tops out just under $30,000. It is still more expensive than the Honda CR-V and the Ford Escape. [12.9.12]

Tenacious D entertained guests at this invitation-only event. The hard rock duo from L.A. is made up of actor Jack Black and guitarist Kyle Gass. They sang 11 songs and then returned for an encore. In addition, the special event offered a unique opportunity for members of the media to mingle with some of the top executives at the automaker. Hyundai President & CEO John Krafcik served as the emcee. [12.10.12]

Ford Fusion named 2013 Green Car of the Year; Cadillac ATS wins 2012 MPG Vehicle of the Year award By Jason Rzucidlo

Exciting news for two of the Big Three automakers here in Los Angeles. Ford Motor Co. picked up the 2013 Green Car of the Year trophy for its 2013 Fusion sedan. Meanwhile, General Motors received the 2012 Motor Press Guild's Vehicle of the Year award for its 2013 Cadillac ATS luxury sedan. Both announcements were made during the second press day at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. The awards are a huge accomplishment for the Detroit automakers since southern California serves as the U.S. headquarters for many foreign automakers like Honda, Hyundai and Toyota. [12.11.12]

Watch for remarks from Sallie Hirsch (Senior Vice President of Research at Nielsen Global Automotive) and by Tom Rivers (Senior Vice President and Account Manager at Nielsen Global Automotive.) Toyota received the first award on the second media day of the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. Nielsen awarded the 3rd Annual Green Marketer of the Year award to the Japanese automaker. Those are the same folks who measure TV viewing habits of Americans. However, this award was based on three pillars: a cross-media survey of 2,600 consumers, TV ad effectiveness from a panel of more than six million and a sentiment analysis from over 115,000 social media messages. One in four consumers said ads for Green technology have increased their purchase considerations, according to the Nielsen Automotive study. [12.13.12]
