LOS ANGELES --
The
Porsche Cayman R made its world premiere at the 2010 Los Angeles
Auto Show on Wednesday. It comes with a 6-cylinder, mid-engine that
is horizontally opposed. The Cayman R produces 330 hp and 273 lb-ft.
of torque. The fuel tank has a capacity of 14.3 gallons and it can
go from zero to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. The top speed of this new
vehicle is 175 mph.
The new vehicle
comes with a sports suspension system that lowers the Cayman R by
20 mm. It has the same 19-inch wheels that are on the Boxster Spyder.
The Cayman R is 121 pounds lighter than the previous model.
Additional features
are lightweight aluminum door skins, sport bucket seats and interior
door panels also found in the 911 GT3 RS. It also has halogen headlights,
contrasting side mirrors and side stripes.
The 2012 Porsche Cayman
R will be available in dealers in February 2011 with a base price
of $66,300 in the U.S.
I think this is a cool
looking vehicle, however it is most likely out of reach for most
Americans with that high of a sticker price.
The automaker
also unveiled the 911 Carrera GTS and the 911 Speedster on the first
media day at the 2010 L.A. Auto Show.
Look for
Porsche to make its return to the North American International Auto
Show in Detroit this January.
