Than 20 World Debuts Planned for the 2010 Los Angeles Auto
Show
Today,
the Los Angeles Auto Show announced that more than 20 World
Debuts are confirmed for the 2010 Press Days, Nov. 17 and
18. Many important North American premieres are also anticipated,
bringing the total vehicle debuts to approximately 40. This
year's show will feature a greater number of significant World
Debuts than ever before. Because the unveilings are coming
from manufacturers in Europe and Asia, in addition to the

Modern
Electric Car Era Begins November at the L.A. Auto Show
A
new era of modern, electric drive transportation begins at
the Los Angeles Auto Show this November. Worldwide, nearly
all major automakers have announced plans for an electric
car in the next few years and Los Angeles will receive the
first arrivals in the next several months. Auto manufacturers
are looking to Los Angeles to lead the charge in early electric
vehicle adoption, much as Los Angeles continues to lead in
hybrid vehicles sales. Since Los Angeles is recognized as
a trendsetter for the automotive industry, it makes sense
that at least a half-dozen electric vehicles will make news

Volvo
Cars CEO Stefan Jacoby Named Keynote Speaker at the 2010 LA
Auto Show Press Days
Stefan
Jacoby, president and chief executive officer of Volvo Car
Corp., will kick off the Los Angeles Auto Show by delivering
the Motor Press Guild (MPG) keynote address the morning of
Nov. 17, 2010. The MPG breakfast and Jacoby's address are
open to all credentialed Press Days attendees. A Q&A session
will be part of the presentation. Jacoby was elected president
and chief executive officer of Volvo Cars in August 2010.
Prior to that, he spent most of his professional career at
Volkswagen, where he held several senior positions--the latest
as of October 2007 serving as the president and chief executive

Significantly
Enhanced Volkswagen Eos To Be Revealed at Los Angeles Auto
Show
Volkswagen
of America today released the first images of its significantly
enhanced 2012 Eos hard top convertible. The vehicle features
an updated design and has been enhanced with numerous new
features. The new Eos will be unveiled to the public for the
first time on November 17 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, with
market introduction in early spring of 2011. Clearly structured
and horizontally contoured, the appearance of the new Eos
follows the code of the Volkswagen design DNA. [10.18.10]

2011
Green Car of the Year Finalists Revealed
Green
Car Journal announced today its five finalists for the
2011 Green Car of the Year®, including the 2011 Chevrolet
Volt, 2011 Ford Fiesta, 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, 2011 Lincoln
MKZ Hybrid and the 2011 Nissan LEAF. For the sixth consecutive
year, this increasingly important award will be announced
during a press conference at the LA Auto Show Press Days on
Nov. 18. The Green Car of the Year® award is a program
that honors environmental leadership in the automobile field
and recognizes vehicles that become available to consumers

than 50 Vehicle Debuts to be Unveiled at the LA Auto Show
As
the LA Auto Show grows in importance as a global stage for
vehicle debuts, so does the number of debuts. The 2010 show
will host 20 world debuts and more than 30 North American
debuts across virtually all vehicle categories. The show opens
amidst improved auto sales and a growing sense of optimism
that is evident from the increased number of debuts, more
participating manufacturers and larger, more elaborate exhibits.

Mazda
to Unveil All-New 2012 MAZDA5 and Mazda SHINARI Concept at
2010 Los Angeles Auto Show
Mazda
North American Operations will debut the all-new version of
its popular, trend-setting, in-a-class-of-its-own, MAZDA5
multi-activity vehicle at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Since it launched in 2005, MAZDA5 redefined the definition
of small family transport vehicles, by offering seating for
six in three easily configurable rows, as well as styling
and dynamics simply not found in any other vehicle in this
segment. This type of insight and fun to drive engineering
is found in all Mazdas, and is defined by the term "Zoom-Zoom."

2010
Los Angeles Auto Show to kick-off the global auto show season

The
2010 Greater Los Angeles Auto Show will open to the media
on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 17 and 18. More than 50 new
vehicle debuts will take place over press days. The charity
sneak preview will take place on Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. Proceeds
will benefit Homeless Health Care Los Angeles and One Voice
LA. The LA Auto Show officially opens to the public on Nov.
19 and runs through the 28. It will be open on Thanksgiving
Day as well. It all takes place at the Los Angeles Convention

Porsche
debuts the Cayman R at the 2010 L.A. Auto Show By

The
Porsche Cayman R made its world premiere at the 2010 Los Angeles
Auto Show on Wednesday. It comes with a 6-cylinder, mid-engine
that is horizontally opposed. The Cayman R produces 330 hp
and 273 lb-ft. of torque. The fuel tank has a capacity of
14.3 gallons and it can go from zero to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds.
The top speed of this new vehicle is 175 mph. [11.17.10]

Ford
shows off its new Focus with an estimated 40 mpg at L.A. Auto

Ford
Motor Co. will have four vehicle models with a fuel economy
of 40 mpg on the highway next year -- the Fiesta, Focus, Fusion
Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. The automaker launched the
2012 Focus on the first media day at the Los Angeles Auto
Show on Wednesday. The new Focus will be available in dealers
by early 2011 in four trim levels. It comes with cool, new
features like Active park assist, SYNC, ambient lighting and

Fiat
returns to the L.A. Auto Show and reveals three 500's

The
original Fiat 500 (Cinquecento) came to the market in 1957.
The automaker showed off three versions of the all-new 500
on the first media day at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show.
It was the first time that Fiat has held a press conference
in L.A. since the 1980's. Fiat merged with Chrysler so this
will be the first Fiat product to be sold in the United States.

Volkswagen
introduces the Eos convertible at the 2010 L.A. Auto Show

Volkswagen
debuted the new Eos convertible on the first media day of
the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. It comes with LED taillights,
the Kansas alloy wheel, electric sliding/tilting glass roof,
a multifunction color display, keyless access locking and
starting system and a radio navigation system. Additional
features include a "Climatonic" air conditioner

Nissan
reveals the Ellure hybrid concept at 2010 L.A. Auto Show

Nissan Ellure hybrid concept vehicle made its world debut
at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show on the first of two media
days. It is equipped with a 2.5-liter inline 4-cyclinder engine
and a 25 kW electric motor. The Ellure also features front-wheel
drive, regenerative braking and drive-by-wire electric/hydraulic
steering. The new sedan is purely a concept, however some

Honda
debuts the Fit electric vehicle (EV) at 2010 L.A. Auto Show

Honda Motor Co. introduced the Fit EV on the first media day
at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. The 5-passenger vehicle
is equipped with the same 3-mode drive system that is currently
on the CR-Z sport hybrid. The Fit EV will have a driving range
of about 100 miles per charge. It can be charged in 12 hours
with a 120-volt outlet and only six hours with a 240-volt
outlet. Look for the Honda Fit EV to hit showrooms in 2012.

Subaru
shows off its new Impreza Concept at 2010 L.A. Auto Show

Subaru
of America debuted the Impreza Concept on the first of two
press days at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. It is equipped
with a 2.0-liter Subaru Boxer engine that is horizontally
opposed to allow the vehicle to sit lower on the ground. The
Impreza Concept features all-wheel drive and it seats four
passengers. It is 178 inches long, 72 inches wide and 56 inches
high. The wheelbase is 103.9 inches. The production version
is expected to look very similar to the concept. [11.21.10]

Toyota
brings back the RAV4 EV electric vehicle at the 2010 L.A.

Toyota
Motor Company showed off its all-new RAV4 EV on the first
of two media days at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. The first
generation RAV4 EV was previously produced from 1997 to 2003.
The second generation model, a partnership between Toyota
and Tesla Motors, will be released in 2012. One prototype
has already been built and is undergoing testing. Another
35 of these are being manufactured for a demonstration and

Chevrolet
re-introduces the Camaro Convertible at the 2010 L.A. Auto

Chevrolet
revealed its all-new 2011 Camaro Convertible on the first
of two press days at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. This
is the first time the Camaro will come with a soft top in
eight years. The convertible is equipped with a 3.6-liter
V6 engine producing 312 hp and 278 ft.-lb. of torque. It comes
with a fuel economy of 29 mpg on the highway and a starting
price of $30,000. The Chevrolet Camaro Convertible will enter
production in January 2011 and will be available in dealers

Mitsubishi
reveals the "I" electric vehicle at 2010 L.A. Auto

Mitsubishi
Motors renamed its MiEV electric vehicle to be called simply
"I." It was introduced on the second media day at
the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. The "I" is a five-door
hatchback electric car with a range of 100 miles in Japan
or 75 miles in the United States. It was launched for fleet
customers in July 2009 and on April 1, 2010 for the rest of
the public. Sales in the U.S. should begin in November 2011
with a starting price of $30,000, before any state or federal
incentives. The "I" is equipped with a 64 hp permanent-magnet

Chevrolet
Volt named 2011 Green Car of the Year at L.A. Auto Show

Chevrolet Volt is the winner of the 2011 Green Car of the
Year award. The announcement was made during a press conference
on Nov. 18, the second media day at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Other finalists were the Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Sonata Hybrid,
Lincoln MKZ Hybrid and the Nissan LEAF. Nominees of the award
must go on sale by Jan. 1 of the award year. The Volt is the

of the Design Challenge was announced. Designers competed
against one another in the RTT sketch-off competition for

media day of the Los Angeles Auto Show. The Designer's Night
Party is considered to be the biggest design industry social

Cadillac
Aera Concept Wins 7th Annual L.A. Design Challenge
The
Cadillac Aera concept vehicle won the 2010 Los Angeles Auto
Show Design Challenge, tying with Smart and besting entries
from seven other automakers including Mercedes-Benz, Honda,
Nissan, Toyota and Maybach. GM Advanced Design has now won
the honor more times than any other design team; this is its
third victory since 2005. This is the seventh year for the
contest, and this year designers were asked to envision the
"1,000 lb. car" and tasked to imagine an efficient
four-passenger vehicle that maintained comfort, safety, driving
performance and style while not exceeding the weight requirement.

Learn
the history of the automobile at L.A.'s Petersen Automotive
Museum

words Los Angeles and automobiles are synonmous. Just about
everyone who lives in America's second most populous city
has one or more vehicles. The 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show just
wrapped up over the weekend in downtown L.A. However, there
is still a great way to learn the history of the automobile
in the city of Angels. The Petersen Automotive Museum is open
six days a week and is only a few miles from the Convention
