LONG
BEACH, Calif. -- Tecate Light, the Mexican light
beer with bold cerveza flavor, invites adults 21 and older
in Southern California to be part of the 40th Toyota Grand
Prix of Long Beach (TGPLB) during the weekend of April
11-13, 2014. As part of its 12th consecutive sponsorship
of the storied racing event, the Mexican light beer brand
will add bold flavor to the celebration by sponsoring
the “Tecate Light Fiesta Friday” stage on
which Grammy-nominated Mexican band Kinky will perform.
Fans 21+ will also have the chance to win an all-inclusive
VIP Package to the races and be able to take advantage
discounts and promotions at retail.
The
“Tecate Light Fiesta Friday” stage has featured
bold musical acts at the conclusion of the first day of
TGPLB races since 2004, and this year is no exception.
On Friday, April 11 at approximately 6:45 p.m., the heralded
Mexican band Kinky will take the stage and impress audiences
with their infectious Latin rock-dance-techno vibes that
have taken the group from their native Monterrey, Mexico
to an international level. Comprised of Gil Cerezo (lead
singer), Carlos Cháirez (guitar), Cesar Pliego
(electric bass), Omar Gongora (drums and percussion),
and Ulises Lozano (keyboard and accordion), Kinky is best
known for hits like “Coqueta” (“Flirty
Girl”), “Más” (“More”),
and “Marcha Atrás” (“Go Back”)
and is celebrating the release of its new album Sueño
de la Máquina (The Machine’s Dream). The
concert
is free to race ticket-holders, and to those 21+ who pick
up a “Fiesta Friday Free Pass” at participating
retail stores in Southern California.
“We’ve
done the festival circuit and have performed around the
world, but this is the first time that we’ll be
rocking with our fans at the Grand Prix of Long Beach,”
said Gil Cerezo, lead singer of Kinky. “We’re
grateful to Tecate Light for the opportunity to allow
us to make history on stage, and can’t wait to let
our music speak for itself on April 11!”
Leading
up to Southern California’s biggest annual sporting
event, Tecate Light will offer fans 21 years and older
living in Calif. and Nev. the opportunity to enter to
win an exclusive VIP event experience by texting TCGRANDPRIX
to 30364 or by going online at www.tcgplb.com.
One grand prize winner will be awarded three-day reserved
seating tickets, a pace car ride, two pit access passes,
hotel accommodations and transportation for the entire
weekend, and VIP access to Fiesta Friday; while ten other
lucky winners will receive three-day reserved seating
tickets for two. Official rules and regulations, including
eligibility requirements, are available at www.tcgplb.com.
“For
the last 12 years, the Grand Prix of Long Beach has given
us an opportunity to infuse the boldness and carácter
of our brands into many aspects of the celebration—from
‘Thunder Thursday’ to the always anticipated
‘Fiesta Friday’ concert,” said Gustavo
Guerra, director of marketing for Tecate. “The event
also allows our consumers 21 and older an opportunity
to taste the bold flavor of Tecate Light, which is perfectly
paired with the roar of the engines on the track.”
To
make sure as many adults of legal drinking age as possible
have the opportunity to taste the bold flavor of Tecate
Light, the brand will host a variety of promotions at
bars and restaurants in the weeks prior to the TGPLB,
including during “Thunder Thursday” in downtown
Long Beach. Additionally, at thousands of grocery and
convenience stores across Calif. and Nev., the brand will
offer instant rebate coupons on the purchase of snacks,
frozen dinners, and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as
one 12-pack (or larger) of Tecate or Tecate Light. All
offers only valid where available and legal.
“We
are delighted to continue our relationship with Tecate
Light,” said Jim Michaelian, president and CEO of
the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach. “Tecate
Light is an important partner to us and their activation
in market is second-to-none and a significant component
of their sponsorship of our event.”
During
the actual racing weekend, consumers 21+ will have the
opportunity to take photos with the Chicas Tecate Light,
sample Tecate and Tecate Light at thematic sports bars,
lounges and cantinas placed strategically around the track,
and much more.
