LONG
BEACH, Calif. -- Rock and Roll icon Paul Rodgers
will star in Saturday night’s “Rock-N-Roar”
Concert, April 12 at the 40th Toyota Grand Prix of Long
Beach.
The
concert, which begins at approximately 6:45 p.m. on the
Convention Center stage facing Ocean Blvd., is free to
all Saturday race ticket holders.
In
addition to his to his Grammy-nominated solo career, Rodgers
is credited as the main songwriter, lead singer and founding
member of three internationally famed rock bands - Bad,
Company, Free and The Firm. Bad Company released six multi-platinum
albums, spawning such rock chart hits as "Can’t
Get Enough,” “Feel Like Making Love,”
“Shooting Star,” “Bad Company,”
and “Rock and Roll Fantasy.” With Free, Rodgers
and the group released four top-five albums, including
smash hits “All Right Now,” “Wishing
Well,” and “Fire & Water.” In addition,
Rodgers formed The Firm with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy
Page, which released two top-selling albums and had two
top-grossing world tours. Rodgers was instrumental in
resurrecting Queen and, together over four years, the
band released an all new studio album, live CDs, DVDs
and launched two epic world tours.
Over
the course of a career that has spanned five decades,
Rodgers has written, recorded, produced and released 31
albums and sold more than 90 million records. His latest
solo record, The Royal Sessions’ single "I
Thank You" is currently #1 at Classic Rock Radio.
The CD/LP pays homage to the legendary hits on Stax/Volt,
Goldwax and Hi Records —recordings by Otis Redding,
Albert King and Ann Peebles and features many of the musicians
who played on the original tracks. Additionally, Rodgers
has played more than 700 live shows around the world,
including the legendary Isle of Wight Festival in his
native England, appearing with Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell,
The Who and others.
Paul
Rodgers said, "I would like to congratulate the Toyota
